This is the attitude that people had in the summer when cases/deaths were low in general population, but there was a definitive increase in case numbers....look where we are now,.

It's not so much the 17, it's those 17 passing on to others and the transmission through to vulnerable groups. Also all these games BCD still require a number of other club staff, press in attendance, media crew, police and ambulance staff at a time when police shouldbe vigorously enforcing the rules and ambulance staff should be caring for genuinely ill people. Time to stop football ASAP and people adhering to the rules(should be law) and staying the **** at home.

Yes they do, it’s not uncommon to hear of a team losing 3 or 4 players to illness.

Can’t remember exactly but did Sunderland not turn up a few years ago because of illness in the camp ? The lost the points and got relegated by a point or something.

I can also remember a goal keeping coach aged 40 something having to play in goal because of a virus in the national league a season or two ago.

I very much doubt footballs have a flu jab being fit young men ?

Do we stop me going to work as a service engineer? Because I have worked all the way through and I meet shit loads of people in my job and have never been tested. We have to learn to except this virus and while waiting for a vaccine be as carful as you can but try as best to keep normal life happening.

I’ve been offered the flu jab by various employers for many years going back to when I was a fit, young man.
Perhaps the answer to the postponement relates then to the need to be seen to be doing everything to keep COVID under control. Remember football is currently being played in this pandemic under permission from the Government. No point in risking losing that permission. Comparisons with flu won’t cut any ice with the authorities given current infection rates and hospital capacity. I would imagine the PL just aren’t prepared to risk arguing.

When you have flu you bloody well know about it, and you can have a jab if you want to, and when you recover you are OK.
1 in 3 testing positive for covid had no symptoms and the infection rate is well above 1, vulnerable could die and long covid is an issue, there are 2 new highly infectious strains about, especially in the SE.
More people in hospital than in April and more infections today than any other day.
