Fabregas will go. By refusing Barca's early bids and by hoping Spain and Fabregas have a good (injury free) world cup, Arsenal should get a decent amount of money.

I think Arsenal are asking for crazy money. Is that really how ridiculously inflated the top end of the transfer market is?!

You've got to remember Fabregas is halfway (?) through an EIGHT YEAR CONTRACT worth millions upon millions of pounds.

Will he end up in here? I think so, I think he is one of the best in The Premier League. I think he will be 4th in the table!

1. Cristiano Ronaldo: Manchester United to Real Madrid – £80m (2009)
2. Kaka: AC Milan to Real Madrid – £56m (2009)
3. Zinedine Zidane: Juventus to Real Madrid – £45.62m (2001)
4. Luis Figo: Barcelona to Real Madrid – £37m (2000)
5. Hernan Crespo: Parma to Lazio – £35.5m (2000)
6. Gianluigi Buffon: Parma to Juventus – £32.6m (2001)
7. Robinho: Real Madrid to Manchester City – £32.5m (2008)
8. Christian Vieri: Lazio to Inter – £32m (1999)
9. Dimitar Berbatov: Tottenham to Manchester United – £30.75m (2008)
10. Andriy Shevchenko: AC Milan to Chelsea – £30m (2006)

If rumours amount to anything, Man City are about to add a new No.5 [Djeko] and 7 [Ibrahimovic] to that list.

It's a fair point, Arsenal are in a strong negotiating position. But if the €78m number is right, they are asking for about £68m. That would put him second in Mendoza's list, £12m above Kaka (which was only last summer). He's a very good player, granted, but is he really of that ilk?

But that would ruin the hard work Real Madrid have put into making it their own list. They currently have the top 4, should be 5 but Fergie was a pratt about getting rid of Beckham, and will undoubtedly be looking to get those other 6 places over the summer.

IF Barca pop up with a £40 purchase then Real have a lot of extra spending to do.

Sell Ibrahimovic and Barca will come back with a new improved bid. Think Laporta wants to get it done before the presidential elections as sort of a leaving present

What I never understand is when people say 'arsenal are asking for crazy money' or 'he's not worth that'

that's not the POINT. A transfer value (unless the club are LOOKING to sell a
players) is an offer that is TOO GOOD to refuse. Everton did it with lescott and forced city to pay silly money and arsenal should do EXACTLY the same. He shouldnt have signed an
8 year contract If he didn't want to stay for
8 years. It's time for clubs to get the power back from players.

I think the player has too much influence on these situations and with Cesc having requested a transfer it would take a brave manager to turn down £40m odd and be left with a pissed off player who could disrupt the rest of the squad. Arsenal are just playing hardball to get the absolute most out of Barca

I doubt Arsenal will look to become enemies of Barca like Man City became to Everton, considering Arsenal are pretty much looking to mirror everything Barca do right down to formation despite not really having the players good enough to play it.
I reckon he'll go for just over £40m if he's to go at all. Enough to clear a little debt and buy 2 half-decent replacements to fill the gap and replace turds like Eboue.

Barcelona and Madrid don't have a problem paying crazy money though do they?
