Wasn’t there a famous swap deal once Ward Birtles Ritchie or summitWhat is it with this mythical swap deal situation? I genuinely can’t recollect any such deal in English football

Great post.In a staggering turn of events, Shirley we need centre backs not centre forwards.
True although we do still need to replace 12 goals and penalty taking. This development could transform a fundamental dynamic of NSC.
We don't need 4 because we use two players in a role that is half striker half attacking mid.I wonder if it may been Undav is off, leaving Ferguson, Broja, Welbeck.
Or Undav stays and RDZ uses two strikers as he did several times last season. Therefore having 4 would be needed
Weren't we linked with De Ketelaere last summer? We don't need 4 because we use two players in a role that is half striker half attacking mid.
Our two alternate with one dropping deep and the other playing high.
For example this season we will have Ferguson, João Pedro, Welbeck, Undav, Enciso, Buonanotte who can all play in that role as they operate in one of the positions and are good enough at the other to flex between them.
Hot prospect players who would thrive in our system are Havertz, Wirtz and Charles De Ketelaere.

He went to Milan where he was expected to really make a name for himself.Weren't we linked with De Ketelaere last summer?
I know Leeds spent a long time trying to sign him when he had no intention of going there!!
Has hardly pulled up any trees at Milan. Could be worth a cheeky bid!!
Yeah we were linked and apparently Milan are open to bids for him.Weren't we linked with De Ketelaere last summer?

I am indeed. It's all I've seen of him. Played behind a Liverpool defence, coached by Klopp and team. Had no positional sense and looked like a rank amateur. Not even judging because it was Saints. He conceded four and looked clueless. Other than that, I'm happy to be proved wrong. That's pretty much tongue in cheek but I didn't like what I saw.Are you judging him on just one game?
Yep - and it be announced on the pitch at half time during a match - NSC utopia!I can’t ever remember it happening in the last 20 years (it may have) but I’m hoping one day the Albion will take part in a player swap type deal - to make the 20,000 posts suggesting such finally come true
Lallana too, potentially Sarmiento also.We don't need 4 because we use two players in a role that is half striker half attacking mid.

thought Zamora's move to WHUFC was part of a swap deal , well make weight? What is it with this mythical swap deal situation? I genuinely can’t recollect any such deal in English football
Another "almost never happens in the REAL world" one we used to get on here was the advocation of signing a well known but past it player on a "pay as you play" deal. Cos Michael Owen did it once at Man Utd. People used to suggest that all the time.I can’t ever remember it happening in the last 20 years (it may have) but I’m hoping one day the Albion will take part in a player swap type deal - to make the 20,000 posts suggesting such finally come true
An opposition player gives some back and you didn’t like itI seem to remember Broja giving the away fans (i.e. us) dog's grief at Soton a couple of seasons ago the match where Maupay
got the 98th minute equaliser. Didn't like the bloke's attitude then and will never like the player. So, it's a 100% 'no'
from me. The bloke's a nasty piece of work.
He was 19 when he joined Saints! As an inexperienced striker at that age in the PL, if he was blowing hot all of the time then he’d be the new Haaland and there’s no way Chelsea would be selling him or if they did, it would be for £100m.Spoke with a couple of Saints supporting mates about him earlier. Verdict was that he blowed hot and cold for them and would be a backup or an impact sub at best in our squad.
Having had most of the season out after doing his ACL, who knows if he has lost a yard of pace or whatever as well. Doesn't seem an 'us' signing at all when weighing it up, especially bearing in mind a new striker must be very low down on the priority list.
fergie and broja in competition with each other would be very good for us, i thinkHe was 19 when he joined Saints! He’s a talented player for sure and the club and fans don’t want to get rid of him but he’s another they might have to. He’s got all the attributes and is still young enough that he’s only going to get better. I’d be pleased to sign him though as already mentioned, bizarrely it is a position we don’t actually need to strengthen.
