Listen. All I can report on is what I hear.

I for one will not be popping a cork until the footings are being laid. As far as I am concerned we are still homeless until Falmer is fully built.

As someone mentioned before, if they are consulting the same man who told LDC it's not worth it, then SURELY he must say the same thing to FPC?

They want to fight right until the end which is fair enough, but it's been 8 long years, so please let it go. NOTHING good can possibly come out of appealing.

LDC lost the main antagonists at the last election, what with gaining several conservatives to the council, I think they knew they could not get agreement amongst themselves to fight on. I don't think they even bothered to study the governments paper.

I agree. I posted on here a few weeks ago that the the Mayor, Jim Daley, told me the decision had already been taken not to appeal.

Perhaps, just perhaps, he was telling the truth!!! :O:O

I don't know if it's right, but my guess is that FPC need to look as if they are doing everything in their powers to stop the stadium. As long as they can show their backers that they've jumped through every hoop possible, they can retire gracefully.

I also think we could give them a bit more slack - only thing worse than a bad loser is a bad winner....

Exactly right!

They really are a vindictive, straw clutching bunch of cunts.

I hate that f***ing shrivelled up old hag Cuttress and her pussy slurping bitch DeVagi.

How can we build bridges with these people? Build a Bonfire more like!

with Cutress surely the thing to do if give forfars the catering contract, she gets 10,000+ customers every other weekend and the business gets a huge income

The problem is that we do not the know the real underlying reason why LDC is not appealing. We can ignore their press release as a work of fiction.

It would be great to think it's because their lawyer said thay had no case, but what if it was because a couple of the new LibDem councillors are actually pro - stadium and won't back the appeal, or if the national LibDem party has applied pressure behind the scenes.

The South Downs Campaign, eh?

I expect Mr Burt might be somewhat disappointed to know that Chris Todd, Campaigns Officer for the South Downs Campaign, has already made his position very clear:-

"I personally accept the decision even if I feel it is the wrong one".

So if Mr Burt is a man of his word, then FPC have not only lost LDC but the South Downs Campaign people. Who is left? FPC and the Campaign for Rural England.

Similarly, what we have heard from FPC are a few members who obviously are very dissapointed mouthing it off and possibly sounding lawyers out. They haven't had their meeting yet, so how can they discuss whether to proceed with a legal challenge. I think when they come to discuus everything, thinking it all through together with the costs involved........and it really will be their money that will be lost, then I think you will hear that like everybody else they will retreat.

Well at least I hope this the case.

Not if the central Lib Dem party have instructed them not to pursue the case. Even though they are the planning authority, I don't think that FPC necessarily need them. Parish Councils have proceeded and won cases in the past.

I think the point though is that ultimately they wont win the case, becasue Govt has clearly shown that it wants to approve the stadium and will use regeneration as its reaason, so even if they appeal they are pretty certain to lose the case and waste their own money. Ill be amazed if they go for it.

I'm not worried about this at all. FPC and the Campaign for Rural England do not have the neccesary funds to take the decision to the high court. Remember that in order for an appeal to be heard a high court judge must give his approval. Even if they did have the funds they would be thrown out of court without the support of the local planning authority.

And what is all this crap about being friends with the NIMBY'S. For 8 years they have made the club and its fans' lives a misery, its time for some serious payback.

The ultimate payback, surely, is to prove them wrong and force them to eat humble pie. If we start littering, pissing in the pond, etc... they'll just go "Told you so", where as if we help them out wherever possible they will eventually have to admit (much like residents at Withdean "The Albion are lovely neigbours".

Humble pie is the best payback with those anally retentive fuckwits.

Gotta say that I am still hopeful they will see sense and make the decision NOT to appeal... surely, the government would have made sure the letter was flawless and, therefore, FPC will have zero grounds for appeal...

Given that FPC know that they can't overturn the government's decision(s), that they can only delay the building of the stadium, the question is: do they feel that hundreds of thousands of pounds of their money is a price worth paying for making a futile gesture and holding up the project for a few months, if at all? Any rational person would answer "no".

you would have thought that solicitors from BHA side would have studied the papers to see if there ARE any of these so called flaws???

Give them more slack? These vindictive anti-football snobs have f***ed this club over for years, they've cost us millions in lost revenue, have helped make us a laughing stock because we've had to stay at Withdean years longer than planned, been instrumental in us losing the good managers and players we've had and you think we should give them some slack? They have been lying, conniving and far from gracious towards us. Still calling us thugs and hooligans this week in the Argus.

They'll get no slack from me.

It was said tonight that they have, and so have Brighton & Hove council lawyers.
