Much prefer the Winter Solstice in BN1 (Thursday 21st Dec. this year). Burning stuff and drinking wine on the beach with mates.

Jesus would NOT approve

I've done all our main present shopping, just need to buy the stocking stuffers for the children and Paddy. Did just about all of it on line and all the presents are stashed away.

I loved Christmas, seeing the joy on my children's faces and their sheer amazement about the whole Santa thing, but since last Christmas my little girl passed away and now it just seems like, well, I'm not really looking forward to it.

But we'll slap on our happy faces and make sure our other three children have happy days.

It must be really hard for you both, and you have my full respect for the way you seem to be dealing with your sad loss, i have 6 kids and dont know how i'd cope.

Best wishes for you and your kids at christmas.

I have just ordered our xmas booze from our wine club.
Have gone for 24 bottled of the Cabernet and 12 of the Semillon/Chardonay, as well as 6 crates of Speckled hen and 4 crates of Stella.
Decided just to go for 3 bottles of Special Malt this time along with the 9 other bottles of spirits.

Bloody xmas, if it wasn`t for the kids I don`t think we`d bother.

i used to look it when i was younger but now christmas itself isnt as exciting. now i just see it as a time to drink and eat far too much and sit around watching repeated films.

Miserable bastards.
Christmas is what YOU make of it. All this "oooh its too commercialised nowadays" crap is such a tired, worn old cliche in itself now. Personally, I get the best part of two weeks off work to kick back and play silly buggers with the family. Get the games out, loads of new stuff to play around with, loads of socialising with friends and family, kids get excited, drinks cabinet stuffed to the rafters, good food, late nights. I LOVE Christmas, and I always will. I try to keep it the same as I had when I was a kid, because I know I always had a great time, and I just do everything I can to make sure my two have a fun time as well.

Forget the "commercialism" - Christmas is what each and every one of YOU make out of it. If you want to be a moany old bastard about it then of COURSE its going to make it shit.

Damn right - I'll be in Melbourne all ready for the 4th Test match. Oh and New year should be pretty good too - on a boat in sydney harbour a couple of days prior to the 5th Test!

Bring it on.
