Are you looking forward to Xmas!!

I know its seven weeks to go but my girlfriend is already preparing for it. Shopping has already started.

Personally for myself I cant see anything in Xmas anymore, I used to love it.

I love the time off work, but I really cant understand all the rushing around that goes on before it. Waiting half an hour to get in to the car park does not make sense to me.

Everyone panicking becuase they dont know what presents to get and people maxing their cc cards all for one day.

Im thinking of ditching Xmas this year as well for something different.

How do other people feel, do you like Xmas or absolutely ditest it.

I've done all our main present shopping, just need to buy the stocking stuffers for the children and Paddy. Did just about all of it on line and all the presents are stashed away.

I loved Christmas, seeing the joy on my children's faces and their sheer amazement about the whole Santa thing, but since last Christmas my little girl passed away and now it just seems like, well, I'm not really looking forward to it.

But we'll slap on our happy faces and make sure our other three children have happy days.

I know businesses have to make money, but the advertising seems to get earlier every year and then come 1pm on Xmas day christmas is forgotten about and its time to get to the boxing day sales. Dont make sense to me whatsover anymore.

And if people have got decorations up already they must be mad.

I reckon they should close all retail on Boxing Day. Workers need time off. I have been there myself working Boxing Day and it just sucks.

Actually I disagree, people have forgotten what Christmas is really about. Its not actually the most significant Christian feast but its rather lost its meaning. I also loath the false bonhommie, why can't we have good will all year round ?

I love Christmas eve Christmas day and Boxing day, but all the cerfuffle (sp) that starts in AUGUST really pisses my off!

Personally I can't wait for Christmas...............2007 that is. December 24th 2007 the family are boarding an aeroplane - destination Animal Kingdom in Disney. Staying in the park for a week, then on New Years Eve get on another aeroplane and fly to the Bahamas for a week over New Year.

I totally agree with you on this. I do think the whole point of christmas is being missed.

I blame the greedy companies for this. Like I said in my previous message shops should be closed on Boxing Day. There should be no money made whatsoever.

For me as soon as I see advertising for Boxing Day sales it makes the whole proper reason about Xmas void, and like I say workers should be entitled to a proper rest, instead of making money for greedy shareholders.

i loved christmas when i was young, as i got older the novelty wore off but spending it with my friend and her kids last year was really good, brought back the magic and all that with the kids getting up to see if stanta had been etc..

I always look forward to stuffing my face. I've not started shopping yet and probably won't for a few weeks, but i am looking forward to it more this year as i am going on holiday with the boyfriend on the 27th December to Goa!!!

Yes and you can do my shirties while you're at it. I did get that but in truth even though I'm not religious I think that people have forgotten what Christmas is all about.

I agree, a vast percentage of people who celebrate Christmas aren't even Christians, it is just a time of over-indulgence and over-spending, I would rather have a long break at a time of year when the weather was warmer, rather than being sat around the house watching repeats of Only Fools and Horses. The only bonus is that we do get a little extra footy to feast our eyes on, mind you, that isn't much good for the poor buggers who have to go out and play.
