I am a STH in the south stand and it was empty in Block C.
I would say about a 20% turn out of regulars where i sit.

I know I can be a sanctimonious wanker at times but if ever ever ever I get as bad as that toast geezer you will punch me won't you?

As a STH, I don't hate the reduced prices, BUT I think it will decimate the renewal take up for next year's season tickets, as everyone will simply wait for the discounts to roll in when crowds fall; which may put the club in a tight corner at the start of next season (unless they reduce the prices of Season tickets in line with the discounted prices).

That's all if's but's and maybe's; we need to address the problem of low attendances now. It works out that you pay, what, £15 a game? Currently that's what the prices should be so if all League tickets were reduced to £15 you wouldn't be getting any benefit from your ticket and the fact you shelled out upfront

However for matches like Leeds, and games in March and April (if we're challenging for promotion) demand was/will be higher and your ticket becomes good value. All us casual fans are saying is that each match should be priced on its merits. We wouldn't have gone last night if the prices hadn't been reduced. We won't be going to any more full-price League games until the New Year (earliest). We are not the only family who think like this.

True, but all STH will face the decision of if it is worth renewing next season (or just after Christmas as it is likely to be!) or wait for discounted tickets next year.

It isn't coping a strop, just we all have other financial commitments.

But there might be no need to discount tickets next year! That's my whole point. We could get bought out by a Saudi multi-billionaire who buys the entire Arsenal 1st team squad. I want to see, what are hopefully temporary measures, used to address the problem of low attendances now. After all the team are challenging for the play-offs, have only lost once in 13 matches, and we're still struggling to get people through the turnstiles.

Incidentally I notice about 80% of the respondents to the poll are STHs whereas in the real world the STHs are a minority group of Albion supporters. I'm not having a go but I do think by worrying about things like next season's ST take-up you're putting the cart before the horse.

No dilema at all...I wouldnt go.

To be honest mate, my enthusiasm is waning for football in general, not just the Albion. If you remember the days we all went together, you, me, squiggsy, ade, rusco it was all about the cameraderie, the drinking on the train, meeting in the pub....ie the social side...football almost was secondary. Now we are very lucky if we all go together and Yes I do miss it, but on Tuesdays the mrs and I have found something we enjoy more. Its also something we can do together ( oooeerrrmissus) after 25 years of marriage that is something we treasure.

I will still go to the occasional away game, and obviously all the home games where I can use my ST, but that is really where it stops now......after 30 odd years of supporting the team I think the Goldstone/Gillingham/Withdean factor has finally got me.

True, but the downside might be STHs facing a decision at renewal time which might effect the budget next year. You are right that cash flow is key but football clubs are a 12 month affair and people need to be paid in the summer.

I think the only way to increase demand next year will be to get promoted, to be honest!

It's sad that it's come to this, Dave. You're not alone - I was feeling that way last season, I pretty much 'free wheeled' though the entire season not giving a t*ss. However, I feel much more up-beat this season, so perhaps with a little breather you'll be back to full enthusiam next year

I'd agree with you as far as it goes - but not everybody who calls themselves a Brighton supporter goes to Withdean every fortnight. My mum for example calls herself a Brighton fan and hasn't been for a couple of years. My mate in Normandy hasn't been for about 10 but still follows the club. Some of my other mates in Brighton haven't been since Cardiff, and a few others have only been once or twice. Also I'm sure you must know people who say they're fans but don't go week in week out - or haven't been for years.

So yes, my point stands. Withdean STHs form a minority group of Albion fans.

I know, I know, the rest of us are Big Game Charlies, Gloryhunters, Fair-weather fans - but we are still fans.
