I saw 5 police cars outside Lidl in Worthing to deal with one Bolshy shoplifter who security had pinned down last week. Their stuff must be pretty expensive I thought.

Not a shoplifter, Lidl were doing Pepper Spray as one of weekly specials. Government cutbacks are starting to bite.

Aldi & Lidls are considered to be good supermarkets in Germany. There is some good stuff to be bought there.

I had heard that as well, also that a lot of the stuff that are unknown brands in this country are considered quality in their home country.

Not near an Aldi but there is nowt wrong at all with our local Lidl, I don't care what the brand says if it is tastes better I buy it - for example their "unknown brand" instant coffee is far better than Nescafe. I am even sad enough to have signed up to their digital newsletter so that I can spot future bargains!

The only brand I buy is HP Sauce. Everything else I seem to be able to find cheaper and better.
Regular purchases at Lidl are olive oil, chorizo, parmesan, mozzarella, chocolate, tinned tomatoes, beans, ketchup (better than Heinz) -also its quite small so quick to get round and of course there is always something random if you fancy an impulse buy with the money you save.

I try most of the cheap value and own brand food. I'm not snobby, if i like it I buy it, no matter what the label is.

My wife buys Branston baked beans simply because I like the taste rather than Heinz in the main she wont buy blue and white Tesco goods but buys Aldi and LIDL goods. I don t like Morrisons fresh meat or veg as it doesn't last more than about 24 hours before it starts going funny so unless we are buying today for use today wont buy it.

She buys M & S bread 80p for a large loaf and it keeps well as we dont use a lot of bread.

You don't half spout crap. Morrisons quality is fine, no worse than Tesco and i would say better than asda.

I can only go on my own personal experience of Morrisons and we have found that their fresh meat especially and veg does not keep more than 24 hours. It may well be the branch at fault I don't know because I only use 1 branch. We usually buy our meat on a Thurday pm or Friday am from the butchers in Bugs Hole market for Sundays and it is fine, and the same with Tesco or Sainsbury in HH but if we are in Worthing and do the same at Morrisons, before Saturday it is usually discoloured, so we don't buy it. Sorry if that is crap but it is based on our own experience. Very rarely go to Asda at Hollingbury as it is not cost effective to drive there unless buying diesel, and have not tried Asda in Ferring yet but may do so when in Worthing this week.

What you say is your opinion which differs from mine who is to say who is right and who is wrong

Even though I get the family shop at Tesco, I often pop into Aldi for a few essentials (fruit + Veg, bread, milk ect) But whenever I talk to my chums at work, they take the piss and laugh at me for buying Aldi stuff. And my.missus refuses to cut back on brands like Heinz sauces and other bits and bobs and won't get supermarket brands, when I'm quite happy to.
What do you guys think? Do you stick to the big chain supermarkets or do you do the Lidel's of this world? do you stick to brands or are you quite happy do supermarket own. Even doing clothes shopping, do you always buy designer or is Primark your thing?

I think you need to tell your misses to wind her neck in, give her a slap and tell her she is lucky not to be chained to the kitchen sink
