Surely if we ban this sort of advert it promotes feeling to children that homosexual relationships are wrong? It's ridiculous banning this sort of thing. You see heterosexual kissing on the tv every day - surely in this day and age there is no difference?

Yeah its been a bit slow today thought i would liven it up a bit.

On top of that i would quite like my 5 year old son to remain niave to the world on these matters for a few more years.
Its just something he dosent need to know about at this stage of his life in my opinion.

I don't understand this. We know about four kids that have gay parents: my kids will sometimes go to parties or other social events where these parents will be there.

Presumably, you wouldn't let your son go to such parties but IMHO depriving a child of socialising with his peers would do more damage to him than explaining about same sex couples.

Should my sons see this, and ask why is that man dressed up like that, I will tell him it's because he's an actor in an advert. Rather than an immoral corrupting pervert.

Dull ad, but perfectly pitched to produce more column inches.

i would have no problem with them attending such parties
these parents are kissing each other in front of the kids are they....i doubt it

all i ask for is i choose the moment that i discuss sex/sexuality with my 5 year old son.

I dont think is a lot to ask.

Call me old fashioned if you like but as i said earlier i dont think its something a 5yr old boy needs to know at that age.

Heinze are selling a 'Deli' Mayo.
People associate New York deli with men like the one in the kitchen.
The kiss is supposed to be funny.
It is supposed to show that whoever you are, you can make deli sandwiches like they do in NY.

What is offensive about that.

Plenty of sitcoms have had men kissing, soaps have etc. Some people just like to complain

Fine if it happens in the right context then fair enough but as far as this ad is concerned I beg to disagree. I wanted my kids to believe in Father Christmas, the Tooth Fairy etc. etc. It is part of the magic of being a kid, about being naieve of the realities of life, that Mummies and Daddies is the norm.

Yes the truth about the world is a whole lot different and they will have YEARS to learn about it.

It should be up to the parent to educate their child as and when they want and not to have a tv advert on which whilst undermines that childish sense of innocence.

Our kids are groing up way too fast and not having a proper chance to have innocent fun. Some parents may choose to raise certain subjects at different times but let the parent decide and don't allow marketing people to interfere in ways which may not be considered by some to be appropriate.

Common sense says this is wrong and sadly a lot of people lack common sense.

Also agreed while i will always try to be honest (but not graphic) with my son i dont think i would be any where near ready to tell him about sex toys etc not this young anyway.

Not sure when the right age is to tell them, my daughter is 6 but that's too young IMO.

He really is lovely most of the time, Has his moments like most kids. I don't get to see as much as my wife being at work 10 hours a day but as she (nlf) will tell you i miss most of the major moments

Just watched it. I don't get it, it's not like the advert suggests that it is a homosexual relationship. It is just implying if you (happy little house wife) buy those sauces you will make sandwichs that are so much like delicious New York Deli sandwichs that you could be mistaken for an authentic New York Deli owner.

No, they're not but they do ask why someone has two mummies or daddies. I still don't see why people's sexuality is not a problem for you in this instance but is it if it's fleetingly glanced on screen.

BTW, we tell my daughter that some men love women, some women love men, some men love men and some women love women and she seems perfectly happy with that.

FFS, it was a jar of deli filler that meant that your mum (the kid says mum at the start of the ad) can knock you up a sarnie as if she is a fella from a New York Deli bar.

I find the level of stupidity in this country really quite scary at times.
