You can download Spybot for free. It seems to be working ok for me.

I didn't like the look of all the bad reviews of Spybot at download.com so I didn't download it. I can't believe the author has actually bundled spyware into the program!!

i actually do read the reviews at download, they are usually a mixture of gush from 11 year olds and knocking from people who've either installed incorrectly or like to moan...i'm not saying that's always the case, but the wild divergence of views is astonishing.

the fact that adaware picked up spybot is well-known, the same happens the other way round. personally i prefer spybot because it explains in better detail what the dodgy software it's found is, and it can be updated.
