Windows XP Media Center is software that does Multi Media type applications and it sits inside Windows XP Home/Professional Operating systems.

Windows XP Office is the Word Processing, SPreadsheet and other office applications and also sits inside the operating system.

Try Googling them.

Home is the version of XP for home users
Office is the word processing, spreadsheet etc to use with XP Home or Professional
Professional is the full blown version of home with lots of extras for companies etc.
Media Centre like office is an add-on but for doing multi-media stuff like DVD's and playing music.

Media-Center plays television and you can stop and restart, back up or record it as it should also have that 'TiVo' as well.
It might also be able to play loads of downloads and stuff, replacing winamp, quicktime and Real-player.

I had it on mine, but then *&$^ing Microsoft Windows came out with some effing 'update' that basically wiped it, and I got no warning that would happen. Naturally, when I called HP to retrieve it, their people were in India and were clueless and hard to understand, and wanted money before they attempt to screw your computer up further and wipe out a year's worth of information and use from your hard-drive.
