I would tend to use BHA, personally.

The current badge uses an ampersand, so I could also see an argument for that.

Even if you happen to prefer the use of 'and' to '&', I wouldn't include the 'and' for acronym purposes, so in my opinion you are correct.

I suppose BAHA is reasonable enough, but doesn't really work because it's never actually used.

As far as I'm aware it should be BHA. The club's official name does not contain an ampersand, so it would be inaccurate to include that in the acronym, and typically, 'and' is not typically included in acronyms (with exceptions when people want the acronym to spell something else.

But laws of English language is not exactly my speciality.

I was not sure if there were any set rules on this as to my mind i thought an ampersand should be just that and not chnaged to an 'A' but i was not confident of this.

Actually is is BHAFC or BHA

Anyone recall the row that Dick Knight got into when he redesigned the badge to read B.&.H.A.F.C. which NO-ONE recognised

I think BHA is an abreviation, given that most people take it to mean Brighton & Hove Albion. An acronym is an abreviation that has become a word in its own right, e.g. laser (I think)

there are no rules to abreviation (or acronyms - good call above). its quite normal to drop "and" "of" etc, but if included they use a lower case. so it would be BaHA. BHA would be that used normally or BHAFC. i've never seen BAHA, so by convention of use, its wrong.

BHA is simply an initialisation.

Something like TV or Prof is an abbreviation.

someone must be a clever little so and so on here
Yarp.

Red Dwarf:

Rimmer: Erm, I think we're losing sight of the real issue here, which is: what are we gonna call ourselves? Erm, and I think it comes down to a choice between "The League Against Salivating Monsters" or my own personal preference, which is "The Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society." Erm, one drawback with that: the abbreviation is "CLITORIS."

Of course, sometimes 'and' 'if' 'as' etc get used if it helps to make a word that can be easily pronounced.

For example..Radar.

Radar: radio detection and ranging.

If it's BAHA my number plate is completely wrong.

Unintentional errors aside, the club always uses the ampersand when spelling out its name, as does the city council. The Argus for some reason insists on using the word 'and'. Very bad-mannered of them.
