Hi all,

Looking for some advice and as always, NSC is the best place to come to :)

I am looking into making some educational apps and have been doing lots of research but hearing several different opinions on the best sites on which to put together apps.

For those that are experienced, could you tell me the best software package to use to develop apps and also which ones are relatively simple to get started on?

any advice would be really, really appreciated.

Indeed, that seems more the place for an education book whereas what I am putting together is more like an educational game app (matching tasks, definitions etc).

There are quiz sites such as Sporcle if you were looking for a web solution. They might even have an app!

I make apps for a living, I can write in native Objective-C and Java but most of my stuff is done in Unity3D.

If you want something that's easier to put together but will work on multiple smart platforms then investigate something like PhoneGap | Home which is basically writing your code in one language and having it "wrapped" natively for the individual handsets (Titanium Cross Platform Mobile App SDK | Native iOS, Android, Hybrid, and Mobile Application Development | Appcelerator Inc is something similar). The only negative point is that you need to have *some* coding ability to get something out of them, but it's a hell of a lot easier than native.

Another option is using something like Game Design Engine, Make Games for iPhone Android - GameSalad if you want something more gamey, tis a bit more drag and drop style programming (hell, even the designer at work who can't code made a game out of it) and again you can build to multiple platforms.

PM me if you want something in more detail :)

Do you work for a company or do you do any private work? :)

Edit: apologies, I should have said thank you for your reply first. Bad manners on my part.
