Looking to buy a 120i M Sport.

Anyone got one? general running costs etc?

It is either the 120i M Petrol or the 116 Sport Diesel

Ours has a petrol engine - we've been pleased with it - a good car but not necessarily exciting. (The Mini's a lot more fun.) Get about 40 miles to the gallon. Servicing hasn't been too bad considering it's a BMW. Insurance OK.

Rubbish in the snow (a light rear-wheel drive).

Has a good spec - good amount of room in the front.

We did have a problem with the engine management where it would momentarily lose power, but a software upgrade appears to have fixed that. No quibbles about the warranty.

Go and test drive and if you like it, I'd recommend them.

A relative of mine has a desiel, a very nice car in many ways but not really a four seater. If you can live with that then yes, a good buy. I do like the slightly odd looking coupe but what do I know, I would love an X6 !

If it's a company car go for the 118d M Sport - the emissions are really low (but still got 143 HP), so it's on the 13% company car tax bracket. Cost about me about £100 a month in tax and I imagine it's virtually free if you are a lower rate tax payer.

Road tax is also only £35 a year.

Highly recommend the Bluetooth & USB upgrade for IPods etc

I can confirm they are dreadful in the snow - I had to abandon mine twice this winter!

I had one for 6 months last year as a company car. It was the 1 series 120d I believe.

I loved the car, nice and fast and very nice inside. Its a top car as expected.

I would say though at the price they go for, I personally dont think they are worth the second hand price of 7k. I just sold my Golf Turbo Gti...not quite upto the beemer's speed or class...but not far off and with an extra 5k still firmly in the pocket I know where my money would be.

was thinking of getting one too before a massive overspend doing my house up. Did lots of research and was also going to go for the 118d M sport. Worth a look on cargiant for a second hand model.

I wouldn't say they were a bad car just rather overpriced for what you get, frankly I'd rather have a Focus and get a lot more bang for my buck.

its a 116d Sport 5 door. Silver. Only 4k miles sept 09.

It drives really nicely and as you say only £35 car tax.

Does the ipod not work through the aux button?

Had mine for just coming up to 4 years and has NEVER gone wrong - only needed service / tyres. It spent a week recently near the bottom of Ditchling Road in testomony to whats already been said about its performance in the snow!

been thinking of picking one of these up as a little run-around, so some nice opinions on here! torn between that and an A3, but really prefer the 1 series shape... looks great i think! good to hear it drives well too... (will just avoid the snow!)
