At 37 I'm way too old to be doing this but I'm thinking of getting one of these longboard skateboard things for the odd whizz along the prom. Anyone got one or got recommendations where to get one in Brighton?

Dont want to spend too much as a beginner.

Thanks

I suggest a mountain board. I'm 41 and picked one up early this year after I had a go on a mates. Cracking fun. Picked it up on eBay (BluEarth) for about £99. Pads and helmet required but not too costly. Plenty of places in Sussex to run it too.

I'm 27 and I still skateboard regularly, although I do feel a bit childish admitting that to people but it's something I've enjoyed my whole like so f*** 'em. Not sure about longboards though to be honest, as I just skate for fun at the level/seafront, not to get from A to B.

You should be able to pick up a great setup for £100ish for any sort of board.

Tis a good laugh, and easy to get to grips with (mix of snow-boarding/skate boarding I suppose).

If you want to see some examples...the one I bought was a decent enough entry level board. Bluearth were knocking them out on eBay (due to a new version coming out made of a maple/composite mix). Mine was all maple (slightly heavier), here's one going second hand on eBay:

You can buy them new here: BluEarth Mountain Boards

An example of a good local (Chichester) MTB site:

There's better ways to have a mid-life crisis. Get a 20 year old girlfriend. Failing this a Harley.

Watch out for Hove B&B. He'll send you sprawling before you can say "beep beep".
