Doing a death sweepstake at work. Get 5 initial picks which I have:

Benedict XVI, Pope
Doherty, Pete
Jobs, Steve
Lynn, Vera
Trautmann, Bert

And then we get one pick a week. So any ideas for this week? Basically the only rules are is they must have a degree of notoriety (so someone who played inside right for the Albion in 1932 is probably out of the question) and they can't have been diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Eartha Kitt has gone already Arthur and how Hugh Hefner`s heart has not given out is beyond me.

He is but those with terminal illnesses can't be included. That would also rule out Farah Fawcett (Majors).

Is being blonde terminal then ?

I have a sneaky feeling for: Edinburgh, Duke of.

He's well into his eighties and been looking distinctly ropey lately. Gawd bless 'im, of course.

Is that the bloke from Oliver???

Every time I hear his name I think he's a character from a Harry Potter book.

Barrack Obama has to be a good shout, history proves that being an American President can be detrimental to your health.

Don't know about that. They're normally elected in middle age (or older) yet I believe only 6 have died in office. Is that really high given that they're an obvious target? And assassins have got much less chance of getting through these days.

Blimey, that's a bit harsh. If any US President was going to be a target, surely it was George W Bush, and he managed to survive eight years, so I'm confident Obama will be fine (in any case, no sniper will be able to get past the 2,000 or so photographers eagerly trying to get a picture of his wife's latest outfit).

Hmm, I wouldn't be quite so sure: I saw him in the flesh in 1993 (which either was or was soon after the "annus horribilis") and thought then that he wouldn't going to be hanging around for long: very unsteady on his pins.

I reckon he'll still be shaking hands and insulting people when he's little more than a moving skeleton and the Queen's shrunk to little more than the size of an ORANGE. Gawd bless 'em indeed.

The photos of the Queen and the Obamas were hilarious weren't they, I'm not sure if she's shrunk or the Obamas are both giants, but I'm surprised they didn't stand HM on a box. Or just do what Sarkozy did in his official photos, and stand on tiptoes in order not to look too short.

On the subject of the Obamas visit, how much coaching do you think the Buckingham Palace officials had to give Prince Philip on what and what not to say to them? With his world renowned cultural awareness and diversity skills, I bet they were absolutely CRAPPING themselves that he'd say something inappropriate to the first black leader of the USA :lolol:

He did say something inappropriate, but the newspapers / tv news didn't run with it.

The Queen to the President: "What have you been up to so far today"

The President: *lists loads of meetings including trips to Chinese and Mexican embassies*

Duke of Edinburgh: "I'm surprised you could tell them apart"

I'm sure I didn't dream that... I'll go search for footage...
