Yes, I'm not a chain restaurant type so this doyen of the restaurant industry must have passed me by...

Chain Restaurant? Isn't that an oxymoron?

Just saw this on the main BBC news page - never heard of the company or the MD or whoever he is - anyone else?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56137815

What immediately piqued my curiosity from that article or rather the featured photo of the MD was that it gave the impression that he was the sort of bloke who favours the denim on denim look.

Unfortunately, while raising justifiable suspicions the featured photo did not confirm or confound those suspicions.

Not wishing to do the guy a disservice by making unwarranted assumptions I did a quick internet search which satisfactorily eliminates any doubt....

He's moaning about his restaurant chain going under. Look around the high street and see how many shops are closed. Mostly small little independent shops who don't have the ear of the BBC to complain to. I bet he was the first to jump on the free money with the Eat Out scheme. Me? Sod all. I've staff on £200 a week furlough right now who have no idea how they are going to make ends meet. I've had four months trade in a year. My landlords answer when I asked for a discount was a swift "no".
My High Street is deserted of people but see who is 'getting away' with being open and who is closed.
National chain Costa - open walk in to buy
National chain Subway - open walk in to buy
National chain WH Smith - open
Local newsagent - closed no trade
Local cafe - open but no entry, order at door.
Another rant from an old man!

there's one at the Eurostar terminal in Kent so you can get a final proper feed before being subjected to all that foreign muck on the continent.

Didn't you also post that you had benefited handsomely from the relief packages in place?

If you have ever lived in London over the last few years or go to London regularly like I do , you would have seen their restaurants. I’m not a fan of big chain restaurants but it’s certainly better than the likes of Nando’s , subway , Pizza Hut etc ! Not that it’s difficult to be better than those examples .

First time I cam across Leon , was when the Cameron government replaced Janie Oliver as school dinners champion, with an unknown restaurant chain owner. Leon seems to have done rather well since.

I have used their restaurants a number of times in London, mainly for breakfast meet ups. I have no complaints, but wouldn't really miss them if they disappeared either.

Never heard of it. But, from the comments of fellow posters so far, I know to avoid it. Tried a few gluten free options to help save the planet or whyever we do it, but none of it tasted like food so given up now.
