[Albion] Anyone else surprised by the complete lack of noise around the rest of our squad?

Lots of media guff about Caicedo but he was only one cog in last season’s well oiled machine…

Anyone else surprised there’s been not so much as a whisper of interest in Ferguson, Estupinan, Mitoma, Enciso amongst others.

I’m not complaining obviously but it is a surprise to me.

We've had plenty of talk around our star player that absolutely everything last season revolved around, why would we have more ? It's not as if we're a big club

Enquiries may have been made and received “not for sale” as a response. After the January Caicedo circus big clubs may now believe not for sale means exactly that and look elsewhere, rather than waste their time?

Yes. I noted on another thread that we had two FFP-cheating Champions League clubs bidding for our left back this time last year, but this summer no one seems interested in the upgrade we replaced him with. Maybe our top-6 finish and subsequent Europa qualification has been sufficient detriment to all but those prepared to pay absolutely top-dollar fees and wages?

Worthing
Or maybe most clubs now understand that speculative offers for our players are pointless. Our stance over Caicedo makes it very clear, only serious and substantial offers will be entertained by the Albion.

Big Money moves for White, Bissouma and Cucurella have set a fear that our top players may be over performing in our side and that they may struggle to replicate such levels in a poorly run club that lacks direction or a plan.

Equally it sends a message to our own players around timing and taking the next step in career progression. However finishing in an European spot has probably helped keep some of our squad happy for an extra year so they are not internally pushing for a move.

My guess is that clubs just don't find negotiating with Tony Bloom all that fun. They know that they either wont get the player or wont have any cash after getting it.

I'm enjoying the Chelsea w*****s stand-off. You give us Colwill + fee for Caicedo or stick it etc .

back under the radar. there have been rumours around Ferguson and Mitoma some weeks ago, maybe clubs tired of hearing "no" and agents stop feeding the rumour mill.

It is brilliant, I've had a few Chelsea supporting friends regurgitate the same rubbish about how we are holding Caicedo back. I was very happy to point out that like Colwill he probably just wants to play European football

Have to say, this seems like free money (Probably only let you put 20p on it but ....)

Watching RDZs presser for Brentford, he basically said Mitoma for sale after one more season with us. Seems like we 100% control the narrative on our guys 👍👍

Maybe people are just starting to wise up to the fact that we are an ambitious club that doesn't want to sell our star players and are looking for cheaper options elsewhere?

I just think we don’t hear about it tbh. Deals like Sarmiento going to WBA have come as a surprise when announced and barring a recent tweet from Naylor, pretty much shows how we do the deal quietly. I suspect a lot of the press around Caicedo (and Mac Allister) was because it was Chelsea and Liverpool interested and they are responsible for a lot of the noise.
