Anyone else remember this western series? I loved it as a kid and was excited to see it's being shown for the first time in about 25 years on TCM channel; not available on DVD either, unless you like german bootlegs.

Brilliant show, got about 15 episodes on series link now and watched the first one when they founded and named HC (Chapparal is a bush perculiar to Arizona, never knew that!) before the obligatory battle with the local Apaches. Sw the Mrs Cannon, the original, for the first time how Big John Cannon meets Victoria and Monaleto, hires the Bunk House boys etc.

Well done TCM! The only channel airing this worldwide currently I believe. And long overdue

First TV series i ever watched in colour at my Grandmothers !! Lynda Crystal lovely !!

I also thought HC was superior to Bonanza. Bit like Star Wars v Star Trek. No comparison really.

Just been doing some research on the cast: surprising number still alive, including Don Collier who played Big Sam, head of the Bunk House Boys, who was in just about every 50's and 60's western going. He's got to be in his 90s now!

But sadly, Ted Markland who played Reno passed away only a few days ago. He was in Another 48 hrs, One Flew Over... and Ulzana's Raid which I only watched the other day and didn't realise he was even in! I'm feeling especially old today :(

Must see prog in our house when I was a youngster so will try to catch this....once g'kids get away from all this manic Yasnk kids shows. All screaming with attitude. No wonder kids so badly behaved these days. Why can't they just play at shooting eachother like we used to?

Too right. Do you remember getting your first winchester? I don't mean the naff modern ones kids get today that make a recorded bullet sound. No. I mean the ones that fired real paper caps with a bit of smoke and the smell of gunpowder as you pretend bullet took down your mate dressed as sitting bull or whoever

Those were proper kids guns them were.

It had to go, Manolito got all the shit jobs on the ranch, I preferred The Virginian, much classier

One of the highlights of the week when I was (a lot) younger. The opening music was brilliant. That Victoria (or Victoia as Buck would say) had a foul temper on her but made my pyjamas go up and down like a snake charmers basket lid. Manolito had the best horse, Blue boy always made the mistakes and they always shot at injuns through the wheels of an overturned wagon.
But I thought it was originally on BBC2 on a monday night about 7.30pm.

My other highlight was The Sweeney on saturday night (great music as well)
still enjoy watching watching it on ITV 4 today ( "take him down the factory George" )

Currently addicted to watching Dallas on CBS drama, it is so brilliantly awful, but I think that Victoria Principal must have been one of the most the most perfect woman of all time and Ray Krebbs the most pathetic cowboy of all time, he would not have lasted 5 minutes at the chapparal.
