[Albion] Anyone else have the sinking feeling that this is Gross’s last game for us too?

Leyton, E10.
Part of any rebrand we do now, I really hope, involves pace. As such maybe so. There can be a place for Pas but we have been very laboured in transition for a long time. One of the things I hope the next manager addresses in this, with or without Pas.

I honestly think his race is run. He doesn't offer enough for us if we want to progress. He's been a great (but slow) servant but If he continues to play like he has in recent weeks, we'll be better off without.

With two quality CM’ers behind him with pace, I think he’s still got it.

He went from having Caicedo/Mac, to an eclectic mix of very slow or unstructured midfield partners. He must be knackered carrying them.

Sadly YES. Think we'll get an announcement in the next few days.

He may have stayed 1 more year if RDZ had stayed but suspect we've seen the last of him.

Maybe that's why PBOBE is doing the PRESSER. To get all the bad news out of the way ???

I would expect the club to sign him on a longer contract with a view to coaching. Especially after Lallana leaves. Can't see anyone offering a few that would tempt us to sell - he is one of the top midfielders in the EPL and will command a big fee.

Gross looked a distressed lonely figure after the game

I thought he looked quite relaxed on the pitch with his family after the game, and if anything, it's made me more optimistic. And for those saying he needs support, did you not see Baleba today ? Just turned 20, best game so far and looks a real prospect. Imagine if Caicedo had stayed another year and Baleba was just now coming through into the team like we planned

Just watched the interviews on the Albion website. He was his usual dour self but his responses weren’t very convincing that he will be hanging around. RDZ loved him but as with all players, they recognise that a new manager will have other ideas.

How many times has this been said? How many times has he come back and produced?

Gross, like Dunk, has suffered this season from a) never getting rested (he's played 91% of minutes this season) and b) has had to play with different players week in, week out.

He has one year left and is in the Euros squad. Barring injury I say he will be gone before the end of the transfer window.

IMO, him playing 94+ mins for the last 3-4 months or more has jaded him, needs to be used more sparingly or subbed off more often next season to prolong his career at a top level.
100% agree with you. I very much hope he stays with us and I'm totally confident he would still be one of our best players next season. But we can't carry on using him like that. We've completely flogged him to death this season.

This is on us, not landing the midfielder we needed in January. It's also on RDZ underusing Baleba. He's also been playing alongside Gilmour which I don't like. Both are ball players, neither are ball winners. We're massively short of muscle and pace in that central area.

Gross should be our "come on with 20 mins left to see out a game" player next season, not bloody Milner. For that to happen, we need at least 2 and maybe 3 CM's in

That's if he stays. But he's just won player of the season, the manager has just moved on. It's got to be a perfect time for him to move back to Germany you would have thought.

To illustrate, our 3 players with the most PL minutes this season:

1. Gross - 3,114
2. Dunk - 2,869
3. JPvH - 2,369

(and that doesn't include Cup/Euro games)

Adam Lallana apparently wore the captain's armband yesterday, at Pascal's suggestion - to mark his last game for the club.

Given that Adam has been here five minutes, in comparison to Pascal himself, I hope this was because Pascal did NOT feel that he himself needed to mark the occasion in such a way.
