The Dinner party

I thought that was possibly the best thing I have seen of its type on TV for years.

Alison Steadman is a fine actor and the rest of the cast were just superb.

Personally I thought it represented what the BBC do best...quality Drama.

10/10

Brilliantly acted, great production values, script quite good, storyline bleedin' obvious.
The best thing for me was being able to watch "comedian" Lee Evans for an hour without feeling nauseous or hurling a pair of size 11 boots at the telly...

It was very funny. I wasn't convinced by Alun Armstrong's Cockney accent, though. (The play that BBC1 showed the previous week - The Boy That Came Down A Mountain, or some such title - was just as funny.)

I was really looking forward to this - but I was hit by a massive wave of disappointment at the end. I would have to say 4/10 - loads of potential but totally missed the goal.

Anything featuring Lee Evans should be avoided at all costs, although I did switch back in time to see the actor who is a poor man's Pete Postlethwaite receiving oral pleasure in the garden.

That is a quality description for Alun Armstrong!

And Lee Evans = dull. I think this summarises it perfectly:

Lee Evans. So - you've screwed your face up, and fallen over a couple of times. When's the funny bit?

Pretty poor if you ask me - the storyline was obvious, the characters very stereotypical (rich wide-boy done good, middle-age couple with a shameful secret, nice impressionable young couple ready to be swayed by stronger personalities - YAWN) and the comedy (it was billed as a comedy-drama after all) noticable only by its absence. In other words, tosh ! 2/10
