Rustington, Littlehampton
Estádio da Luz Stadium in Lisbon.

I'm lucky enough to be in Lisbon on Sunday and found out Benfica have an evening game at home. My business contacts are trying to get us a couple of tickets. Anyone been?

I have been a few times to watch England and it a cracking stadium. There is a shopping centre right next door as well which is pretty good.

Albion & England forever.

The toliet? (as Sporting Portugal's stadium is referred to by Benfica fans, due to the green and white tiled finish).

I've worked in Lisbon a few times and have a friend there who's a big Benfica fan. I was lucky enough to see them against AC Milan in the Champions League there last year (as well as 1.FC Nurnberg in the UEFA).

If you do go... make sure you get there early enough to see the real eagle (called Viktoria) who flies around the stadium 10 mins before every game. It is a shame about the mascot, though my mate's not too happy about our blue and white Porto stripes either! It's a spectacular sight though, flies around and lands in the middle of the pitch.

Top Fact no.2... it's a sister stadium of the Emirates, built to the same plan but with less money, so a rougher finish on the outside. It's a shame if stadiums become like shopping centres (i.e. all identical), but it's a great stadium, even if there are two of them in this case. If you've been to the @rse, you've been to Benfica (but the weather's nicer in Portugal)

Unfortunately it can be a lot emptier than the Emirates though. Wages in Portugal are a lot lower than here. It's even possible to easiely get tickets for the derbies against Sporting, and the AC Milan game was a 35,000 attendance in a 60,000 stadium. The tickets were 35 euros, in a country where wages are half ours...

Same applied to Sporting, though it's a tighter ground, with the seats painted to look like there are people there, even if there aren't!
