As in the title really, I haven't frequented Billy Bridge's or Adversane for decades - do any old skool places still exist where you can wander around, find a car and take bits off or has health and safety kicked in and everything is on a shelf etc.?

Thanks.

Certainly can't at Bridges anymore. There is a company called Copart that will buy a Cat B write off on your behalf, take it to a workshop at one of their premises, and allow you to strip what you want or can from it, but charge by the hour for the workshop. It might pay if you had a number of parts you wanted to strip, but I don't think they have any locations in Sussex or Surrey. Other option is to buy a Cat S write off from them, they will deliver to you for a fee, you take what you want from it and ask them to collect the remains and auction it off again, it will then be listed as strip damaged, i.e. it has had parts removed.

Adversane, those were the days, 25 years ago I bouht a roll cage for a MK1 Cortina from a rot box up there . . . They cut the rof off the car and pulled it out for me

I think there are lots of people doing it for you now, you just find ehat you want on fle bay which is basically an aitomotive jumble sale,at best.

Agreed, eBay is great but if I could find the car I want locally and have it nearby as a donor I would be happy. R129 parts are quite expensive from the spares places online that specialise in them.

Ebay has kind of ruined most of the breaker type places, its just littered with opportunist pikeys and idiots
