I’ve got to admit I’m pretty fed up with the snobbish attitudes people have got towards Crawley.

It’s not the most beautiful town in the county but it has definitely got the best facilities. K2 is a brilliant community leisure centre with a massive pool, rock climbing, squash courts and football pitches. The shopping in the town centre is not exactly boutique but for standard items provides a lot of choice. And as Doug said before it has loads of open space including Tilgate Nature Reserve, Buchan Park and Goffs Park. It has a regular farmers’ market and some good pubs.

Added to that it has some of the best schools in the county with loads of things, like a skatepark, cinema, bowling alley, go karting and tennis courts, for kids to do.

Granted it’s not the sort of place where you can swan around in pointy shoes and skinny jeans checking out the latest organic cheeses at ridiculously expensive loss making ‘delicatessens’. But then that’s not the point.

For an inexpensive place to live with loads of things to do and a high speed link into London then there’s nowhere else in the county like it. Oh and it generates more income and has more hi-tech and knowledge based businesses than any other place in West Sussex.

Rant over!

Agreed. It is rather lovely doug. And you might even happen upon the 3rd most talented Beatle there.
Battle is interesting too.

I nearly ran him over in Rye once, while reversing my lorry along the cobbled street to the Crown and Anchor.

Went to school (Thomas Peacocke) with Mary and Stella...knew Mary pretty well... also got tips on stage management and roofing (yes!!!) from the man himself.

Loved the place... hated the boarding house!
