Just wondering wether to buy it or not. A mate has it and showed me a clip or two and looked good but don't want to go on that.

I do have that vid in my collection. By no means a classic, but enjoyable fare. You could probably rank it as a half-decent sport film, but given that most of them are pigswill that of itself is no great recommendation. Al Pacino always manages a couple of good scenes in any film he's in.

If you are into the Gridiron Game have you watched "North Dallas Forty" from 1979 which I recall as being rather good when I saw it on TV ages ago. Seems to be around £6 on the various sites offering it on DVD.

This. Moneyball took a bit to get going, but ended up being incredibly good.

AGS, for me was a poor Pacino film. Love a lot of his work, but not overly fussed about this one. Oddly, despite it not being one of his "classics" I loved The Devils Advocate

Great performance by Pacino in DA that role was made for him.

Indeed it is unrelated, however maybe there's a niche in the market for 20 year old VHS tapes of Al Pacino scooting around on a supercharged sit-on lawnmower? On a Sunday obviously!!

As a slightly longer alternative, give Friday night Lights a go, tv series based on a High School 'football' team. Just finished watching all 5 seasons and was a good watch!!
