You know, I am not religious, never have been. I have nothing against Jews, Muslims, Catholics, Hindus, each to their own, live how you want to, wear religious clothing, starve yourselves occasionally, fine, respect. But what I hate to the absolute depths of my stomach are bullies. At the moment, Isreal are being bullies. That's how I see it, in the here and now.

....... it is still nothing compared to the years of discrimination against Muslims.
Start a new thread and lets hear all about this discrimination,..... this should be interesting, I am partial to tall stories.

There are many people who are still anti-Semitic and many people who are racist and hate gays , not just the ones that protest but many others too , you can't take this out of someone just because you make it illegal , it will take generations for people to become more liberal and it is far better now than it was 20-30 years ago .

The actions of the Israeli government haven't caused this, as disturbing as they are. They are merely an excuse, a welcome catalyst, for the festering monsters of the far right to attach a warped justification to their ideology. A perfect tonic to their recruitment campaigns. The perverse irony being that the actions of the Israeli government have been ranged upon another people they hate with even venom.

could someone create a spectrum of where all these extremists sit on the political scale, in my mind :

EDL etc - far right
israeli govt - far right
putin - far left
issad - far left
mulsim brothood - far left
nazi - far left
pol pot - far left

I disagree. Anti-semitism must be condemned as the vile hatred it is, but I'm unsurprised that a wave of anti Jewish feeling has risen after the actions of the Israeli government. I see the two as directly related.

Unfortunately, as you say, it plays right into the hands of the far right.

None of those are 'left',.... they are all 'right' in their strong arm control and persecution of those that oppose them.

These are not left or right, they're wrong.

Wouldn't describe Hitler and Putin as far left, quite the opposite in fact.

You say that but Hitler and Nazi party started as National Socialist which was Far Left.
No, quite the opposite in fact,..... the origins of the German version between the wars was actually formed to oppose the left wing ( communist) politics of the time. They use the word Socialists in a very loose way, yes they offered a form of socialism, 'government for the benefit of the people', but it was as far right as it could have been, even in the very early days.

That isn't how Hitler described his Nazi Party in Mein Kampf.

My knowledge of Pol Pot is very limited and I don't know what issad is, but I would say that all of the others on that list are far right. If you look into the policies of the Muslim Brotherhood and the policies of most far right organisations, they are very similar.

OK, point taken, should look to those other wonderful historic left sided political models Russia, China, Korea........

Socialism is simply a form of government,... ie,.... something like "Government by the people for the benefit of the people", as opposed to communism where you can replace the word people with the word state. But the key point with National Socialism, was the word 'National', it was for the benefit of the people, but driven by the nationalist ideology. ... Of course latterly Social Democracy is probably where you are coming from, its roots in the Marxist ideology of the late 19th early 20th century.....

Germany had no intention of leaning to the left, as was seen as the world entered the 30's and 40's.

Thank you, I kinda knew that way back in the midst of time at school but you just clarified it.
