Watch out Trossard he's coming for you slot in the team!

must admit it was Trossard who came to mind first..... wondered if it was something they taught in Belgium but then realised most of his football skills have been developed here.

Maybe, just maybe is a good thing to talk about our youth team and set up with pride and aspirations that he could become a full international.?

You guy! (no lol).

So you're going to ignore the joke as referenced by the Crawley comment, the exclamation point and big laughing face.
That said I'm sure there's a small amount of truth in it, as to the reasons for the club's policy of almost hiding the kids. ("We know more about the academy from NSC than the club" isn't without design).

Heading straight for face value and then doubling down.

Why can't it be good to talk about our youth team in terms of the youth team?
Why does that have to be instantly elevated past the Albion first team (& under 23's) to winning international tournaments?

What good does that serve?

He's an Albion centre back.
Peace keepers in the Middle East are currently saying to each other 'you think this is tough just be grateful you're not a young centre back at Brighton'.

Can't we just praise him for who he today, and take pride in the players who are now full internationals?

Isn’t this the lad we got from Chelsea. Another ball carrying centre back, why not. Looks like he’s ready for a loan. Do we have a never ending production line of Centre backs. I reckon you would have to go back to the early 00’s since we didn’t have a centre back that wasn’t playing regularly in our starting 11 who didn’t come through the academy. Defenders in general probably before my memory can collect. I can go back as far as Ian Chapman.

Think we had a half season when the pairing of choice was Greer and Upson. That aside, the timeline of Elphick / Lynch / Hinshelwood / El Abd / Dunk / White would be pretty much unbroken.

Crazy isn't it.

Even the 'bad ones' suddenly become full internationals the moment they are moved to Albion centre back.

I'll Eden a guess this puff piece came about because of an imminent loan move or just a 'congratulations' for his play last season.

Either way all good.

Whilst this lads looks good, let’s not forget that his competition for being the next ‘Ben White’ is utterly astonishing. First, there is Belgium teammate Dendoncker, there is Østigård who has done so well at Coventry, there is the left footed Roberts who looks incredible with the ball at feet, there is the promising Dutchman in Van Hecke who just tuned 21 yesterday along with the very tall Wakely we nicked off Chelsea.

There are probably more I’ve missed but the ability to be a full international is clearly a benchmark for all Albion academy players now.

So you're saying we're a little light.

You can also go back to Virgo as well as adding Cook and Grant Hall who have gone on to play championship and premier league football.

Certainly could have included Virgo. Deliberately left off Cook and Hall who never really played.

He was on our retained list, nothing next to his name saying extended or offer either so he must have signed a new deal previously that hasn't been reported on. Maybe AZ Gull can shed more light as he's normally the go to man for this information.

it wouldbe better but maybe this was an insight into our training regime for shooting - look at the goal, close your eyes and then shoot where you think the crossbar is...

You seem to be suggesting that at some point their eyes are open.

I don't think you've gone far enough 'back to basics'.

He signed his first professional contract on Jan 21 2020 (the club have never acknowledged it, but he mentioned it on his instagram page).

The fact that this was only about three weeks after his seventeenth birthday (which is the earliest that a youngster CAN sign professional) would indicate that the club were keen to tie him down (their more usual practice is to wait until the player reaches the end of their two-year scholarship, which in Antef's case means now).

The length of contract is unknown, but if it was a two-and-a-half year deal it would run until June 2022.
