What's happened to wonderkid Fati to make Barcelona suddenly not want him?
Hes the highest paid 21 year old footballer in the world and he's definitely not worth anywhere near his salary !

Of course they wanna do some kind of swap deal. But the broke bastads can do one.

Will be interesting with mitoma, culturally I wouldn't have mitoma or the Japanese as big work strikers. He's signed a new contract and he's worth much more than the 40m we would get for him. So let's just bloody keep him.

His 'days' aren't that often though now. Teams double and even triple up on him, and there are very few players in the world who can cope with that. It would be a shame to lose him but he is 27 in May, he's approaching 'now or never' territory for his move to a massive club. Not many really big clubs will sign wingers when they get too close to 30.
Part of the reason teams have been able to double up on him is that he hasn’t had Pervis making those overlapping runs for a majority of the season. Players can concentrate on stopping Mitoma cause there is no other threat on that side. Get them both back on the pitch and hopefully we will get that double act in full swing again and will see the Karou of last season.

This indeed,... plus we need Adingra to also add threat on the right, maybe with Hinshelwood popping up on that side, we can broaden the threat.

A swap deal would be simply out of the question, apart from his wages being astronomical he is injury prone and a risk. Mitomas contribution to the team has been missing of late and adds far more to the team than Ansu ever can. Barcelona have loaned us Ansu because they are desperate to off load players for financial reasons and playing with us and our style especially as we are playing in Europe puts Ansu in the shop window. They are banking on him being pivotal to any success we may have this season, increasing his exposure and value for a potential sale.

Agreed, but doubling and tripling usually leaves space for an inform Pervis or Pedro to cause havoc.

I can see why Barca would want shot of Fati. He's never fit. They have Yamal as the great new attacking hope. They are broke.

I can also see why they would want Mitoma (though i'm not sure if there's any basis for this other than someone randomly speculated it on this thread). Can you imagine how incredible this would be commercially? I mean, Barca are a club who will print more than the absolute bare minimum of shirts. Every other person in Tokyo would be wearing a Mitoma Barca shirt. And of course he's a terrific player.

I agree with those saying a swap deal is unlikely.

The most likely scenario is that Fati goes back to Barca. In the current FFP environment, his wages and fitness record represent a huge risk. Another loan is the next most likely. PSG or someone. I'm not ruling out Saudi. I'm also not ruling out us. Though he would have to become one of the only players in history to voluntarily take a massive pay cut

That and sadly we must factor in the strong possibility RDZ will not be here next season because if we believe the papers it was RDZ that personally called Ansu and persuaded him to join us.

I hope not. That's nothing against Fati but everything for Mitoma. The longer Mitoma stays at the Albion the bigger we're going to become in Japan and that's a rich market. Just need the club to actually try and cash in on it. Keep Mitoma for a few more years, come over and do some football schools/camps, allow some limited edition Brighton/Mitoma merchandise to be sold over here and watch the fanbase expand and the money roll in.

TBMBE/PBOBE I'm available. Give me a call. お願いいたします!

But back to Fati...I'm A ok with loaning him again.

We will also have to take into account Mitoma's commercial value to the Club. There's a huge following from Japan in terms of matchday tickets, shirts.......etc. It's just not transfer fees / salaries but our brand and global appeal. Mitoma will be a massive loss in this respect, far more than Fati.
If you think that Mitoma has a bigger brand and global appeal than Ansu Fati you're living in a dream world.

Ansu Fati has 5 times the amount of Instagram followers than the club. 10 times what Mitoma has.

That is not to minimise Mitoma's influence in increasing our popularity in Japan and Asia, but Fati is a global superstar with a brand and global appeal bigger than we've ever seen at the club.

If he progresses as was expected, he would be. So I guess the feeling is he's just not that good anymore.

Then why aren't we raking it in through the sale of Fati shirts? Oh yeah.......I remember now.

See my posts in that thread about how kit deals work for the logical answer.

And if you're asking why we're not raking it in through the sale of shirts, then the same is surely applicable for Mitoma?

FWIW, I was speaking to a friend at the game on Saturday who told me that they went on holiday to India in January. Went to a remote village in Kerala and he took a picture of a bloke in the village wearing an Ansu Fati 31 Brighton shirt.
