Stockport county say they have only recieved one bid for a player so far and that player has turned down the move.
So either McNaulty has turned us down or the club hasn't made a bid for him.
Propably the first, can't blame him really but Stockport could do with the money!!

ALBION are trying to buy Stockport leftback Jim McNulty.

Chairman Dick Knight says "substantial offers" have been made for two players and a fee agreed for one of them.

He refused to reveal names but the Argus understands McNulty is one of the targets, the other a midfielder with a Championship club.

A fee in the region of £150,000 is believed to have been agreed with Stockport for McNulty but Albion face competition for the 23-year-old Scot from Championship clubs.

The only new signing made so far by the Seagulls during the January transfer window is former Coventry midfielder Chris Birchall, who has signed for the rest of the season.

The potential spending spree on McNulty and at least one other player signals Albion's intent to back manager Micky Adams with funds to strengthen his threadbare squad before the window shuts on February 2.

Knight said: "Micky knows where we need to strengthen and I am currently in negotiations with other clubs and agents concerning potential targets we have identified.

"Without divulging names, I have substantial offers for two players lodged with their clubs and, with one of the clubs, I have agreed transfer terms.

"Talks with the player and his agent regarding personal terms are ongoing..."

Knight is not making any promises and has urged fans to be patient.

He said: "Expectations and activity are much higher during the January transfer window, with potential deals often reliant on the domino effect of other deals taking place.

"Micky and I are working hard to secure a number of potential targets. We may be successful, we may not, but fans can be assured there is a lot going on behind the scenes."

Albion need a leftback following the return of former loan signing Matt Richards to Ipswich.

McNulty represented Scotland from under-17 through to under-21 level and the ex-Wrexham and Macclesfield defender has been a regular this season in the Stockport side chasing a play-off place in League One.

Albion also need a midfielder after the end of Bradley Johnson's loan spell from Leeds.

Thanks but I actually saw that in the argus. What I said was that it was not confirmed or is the argus now the voice of the club. If so, sorry I did not realise.

You would have said that before we spent £300,000 on Murray, you have no idea who we can realistically bid for.

I still believe the club know very well where we need to strengthen and are doing what needs to be done to get the players in. It's a little worrying that January is coming to an end, but there's always a rush towards the end of the window.
