The Press are reporting a lack of bloodshed, but Georgia has been suffering from severe violence ever since independence - generally sponsored by the Russians. Shevardnadze has been trying desperately to find peace in his country, all to no avail, as former colleagues in the Soviet govt, disappointed at his 'treachery' in supporting independence from the Soviet Union/Russia have sought to undermine him, in a project that has killed thousands of poor Georgians.

your question seems to anticipate that I would cheer pinochet for chucking a few 1,000 leftists down mine shafts yes? Well no.
When the CIA helped pinochet turf out allende they should of come back and turfed out pinochet as well imo.
but this is just an opinion, its pointless trying to second guess history and try to predict how many allende would have butchered if he had stayed, or judging it in an ahistorical cotext as it was during the cold war.
Unlike some, and I include you in this, I do not pick and choose my tyrants according to what Ideology they support.
I just dont like dictators ok?
add up all those butchered in democracies and compare all those butchered in dictatorships.
