No wait a minute byf, don't start quoting results when I am talking about the style of football Adams teams play. The standard of the football is a stick you regularly used to beat Wilkins so don't start making out like it will be better under Adams, because if anything it will be worse.

Also I don't get the first sentence. Adams never managed us in the Championship. If you mean this division then Wilkins got us into the top 7.

But the football under adams was good mr Les. I enjoyed it very much. I'd go as far as saying It used to give me a small erection at times and the fans must have enjoyed it, due to gates home and away being considerably higher.

As for Wilkins football made me shit myself and burst some blood vessels in frustration.

Firstly I will say that I think DW has been treated appallingly but although I'm not a massive fan of Adams you can pretty well guarantee the team will come out in home games going for the opposition. The few games I saw last year we started really slowly and really didn't look that motivated. DW did seem to have real trouble motivating the team imo, whether it was caused by complicated tactics that the players struggled to take on board I don't know but I expected the team to play with a bit of gusto from the off.

I recall, for the most part, that the football was pretty good under Adams, although there's a groundswell on here that suggests it was mostly dire. It may not have been as pretty as DW's team when they were playing well but it was sure as hell effective most of the time and as far as I recall far more enjoyable overall than anything seen consistently over the last few seasons.

Agree with all except about the treating of wilkins being appalling.

The long term future of success on the pitch and off it is at stake...gates of 5k and below cannot be accepted again next season & a patchy season wont be tollerated by fans or the board.

Wilkins has been offered a job, so its not like he's on the dole, its life, its football...thats the way it goes. Our success is more important than being nice to dean wilkins.

The point I am making is it's disingenuious to make out Adams' team played nice football, they didn't.

They tried harder than Wilkins' team but Wilkins' team overall tried to play the better football.

Wilkins has only be offered that job as otherwise the club will have to pay some severance it him as he has 2 years of his contract left.

There is also the issue that Wilkins, if he wanted to go down this route, could well have a case for constructive dismissal, which could be both costly and potentially embarrasing for the Albion. So offering him a new role is a way of hopefully botching through, oh and he is a half decent coach.

I suppose its all about opinion Les.

I watched us week in week out under adams. Season ticket holder and went to 75% of away games & I can honestly say I was rarely disgruntled. Maybe as you say down to the harder they tried/determination factor, But I was never unhappy with the style he played. It brought us good success & imho was a good mix of skill and determination in our play under Adams.

Wilkins did a good job overall, I can now put my hand up and say I was a little over criticle at times. But do stick by what I said about him not being the right man to take this club forward and the board agree with me.

If I was Dean wilkins I'd go apply for jobs in League one and League two.......He's a great coach and could return to that anytime he wanted....will be interesting to see what he does......But as adams stated if it wasnt him who got the job it would have been someone else...so who really knows the real root reason behind the decisioon baring the board and DW.

That really is a subjective opinion of what you classify as nice football. Are we talking Arsene Wengers passing game or an uptempo stragegy with gusto and plenty of pressure n the opponents goal? I enjoyed most of the football Admas employed with the taem and am at a loss as to why there is groundswell of opinions aginst it.

What I will be clear on was that it was not route 1 or hoofball.

Bit harsh on his finishing. I would have thought that was one of his main strengths. 9 in 21 is not a bad ratio. I would agree with the rest though. As I have alluded to elsewhere, my main concern is that MA might not take kindly to his, er, laid-back style outside the box. OK, BZ also had a languid style, but got through more work than he was sometimes given credit for, and he also had a youthful OGH alongside him harrying opposition defences.
I don't think Murray is THAT lazy. He just looks it. If you watch him he actually runs the channels quite a bit. And he wins nearly everything in the air. He'll be alright.

Adams style was high tempo, kick and rush football which I agree can be good to watch but at times Wilkins team played some lovely football. You are right though, it is subjective I would rather watch Arsenal than Man Utd purely because both play attacking football but while one is combined with high tempo play the other (Arsenal's) is at times sublime.

I'm struggling to think of any Albion forward I've seen who wins more in the air.

Michael Robinson
Andy Ritchie
Sammy Morgan
Mike Small
Neil Martin
**** Clarke (Signed form a dutch team)

Ray Clarke? yeah he was good but I don't remember Ritchie or Robinson being that good in the air. Could be wrong though :)

Never saw much of Morgan and I have no idea who Neill Martin is.

Mike Small, yep he was good in the air, I'd forgotten about him

Either way we are going a long long way back to when we arguably had a forward as good in the air.

Man U spent £40million, Arsenal cant have been much more than £10

A 4 point difference between the 2 teams

Sunderland spent £45 million, and finished 3 points ahead of the relegation zone (that will scare the teams coming up from the championship)

The money spent is a fair point but....

Would that make you feel any better at the end of the season as a player for arsenal or a fan of arsenal?

Its got to become if you cant beat them join them in footie.

Loom at the albion...we had to spend 300k on a striker...you dont see that often from us.

Considering the majority of them had a MASSIVE impact on our success it just shows what a hero adams was that season.
