Andy Carroll - breath of fresh air, or mindless Geordie thug?

You have to hand it to Biffa Bacon, he's having an amazing season.

Goals, glory, bust-ups, fined for one assault, facing charges for another one, had his car torched, orgies at his captain's house...and now being tipped for England. Never a dull moment. Burnt out by 25?

Football wise he seems exactly what England needs. A big battering ram of a striker with a bit of confidence.
Off the pitch though he seems an utter cock & needs to watch where he's stepping otherwise he'll be in jail when he should be enjoying the glory days of his career.

Didn't he break Steven Taylors jaw too?

From what I've seen of him this season, I think he has got something to offer he national team.Good in the air, two footed, good work rate and gets in the right places.

Not as good as Muzza though!!!

Meopham, Kent.
Can England really pick a player with that Barnet?

Its awful.
Awful.

We've picked players despite some dodgy haircuts before.

seems like an all round decent bloke
Fighting on tha training ground, once breaking a team mate's jaw
Beating up his girfriend
Glassing people in nightclubs

All he needs is some allegations of rape, maybe a bit of racism and he will be the complete LAD.

I'd still rather have him in the England squad than Kevin Davies though

High up on the South Downs.
Drink ten pints then beat up the wife
Cos you're a northern bar steward

Song could have been written for him! But he's the most exciting player Tyneside has produced since Shearer.

Very exciting prospect. Nowhere near the finished article. He needs to watch himself, and needs the guidance of a level head. Perhaps he should move in with Peter Beardsley?

Anyway, he's probably deserved a call up for the France game, but these things shouldn't be rushed. He's got a long way to go. But I agree, very exciting, and great to see a local lad actually excelling in black and white stripes for a change.

I was absolutely thrilled with the win yesterday, needless to say.

Right I don't really understand all this 'exciting prospect' stuff.

He's basically another duncan Ferguson isn't he? Not that that's a bad thing, I'm sure he'll carry on getting goals for Newcastle as long as they play to his strengths and he's not in prison, but that's about the extent of it.

If that's all he does, and all he ever amounts to, then that makes him an exciting prospect to me.

Maybe he needs to calm down a bit and move in with Joey Barton for a while.

He was alleged to have beaten up his girlfriend after he caught him shagging some slut he took home. What a charming person.

I don't think it's any big moral issue now playing for England with off field misdemeanours. Most of the players are scum anyway. The Daily Mail made me laugh this morning with their headline "Andy Cap!" :lolol:

In some respects having Andy Carroll in the England squad is a good fit right now.

My brain tells me he hasn't got the natural skill or football intelligence of a potential Euro 2012 winner, yet because I don't get as worked up about England under Cappello as, say, under Sven, I'm up for a few "characters" in the side.

A strikeforce of Zamora and Carroll would certainly be good entertainment value whilst Rooney's off the radar.
