Having taken the plunge and moved from an iPhone to the Nexus 4, I just wondered if anyone on Android had any apps they would recommend for me to try. Also any I should absolutely avoid would be good to :)

Grateful thanks from an Android newbie :bigwave:

UK Football Scores - it's not a particularly polished looking app but I find it the best for live scores
Sky Sports - Good but not the best at refreshing
Football League
Cricinfo & ECB - If you like cricket
BBC News
BBC iPlayer
ebay
Chrome
Opera Mini
National Rail
WhatsApp
Skype

Word Hero. It's a little bit addictive and a great time filler.

Edit; Tapatalk as well, very handy!

The Trainline app is superb. Saved huge amounts booking in advance for brighton games coming from croydon but above all it's so quick and user friendly. Even if you ony travel infrequently i'd recommend it.

Juice Defender - the best app you'll find for an Android as it saves battery life incredibly effectively.

I don't find that's needed with the recent versions of Android. I just get into the habit of closing apps from the home screen by holding down the button, my battery lasts ages now (unless Skype is running, which seems to eat up power).

XBox Smartglass - If you've got an XBox this is quite a nifty app for controlling it and giving you information.

Great suggestions - thanks! Unfortunately am suffering the curse of the early adopter and some apps aren't yet compatible with Android 4.2 - including iPlayer and SkyGo :(

Keep 'em coming :)

I would recommend Plague Inc as a good game, and you get the satisfaction of destroying all of humanity.

Taptu - all your news feeds in once place
Firefox - a better browser
FotMob - decent for looking at stats and the like although the real-time notifications aren't up to much
Business Calendar - if you use a calendar on your 'phone then this is a great widget
Kaiten Mail - a better email app

Games-wise there is a tonne of stuff out there, lots of good recommendations already above so I won't bother with any more.
