Lewes were 4-1 with some bookies for that game - bloody brilliant.

it was only a couple of seasons ago that Langney Sports v Hailsham in the Unijet was Sussex's 2nd finest's big league fixture. Eastbourne Borough v Lewes in Conference south sounds a bit better.

C'MON LEWES, COME AND JOIN US

Next game is away to Kingstonian on Saturday (although there is some talk that the game might have to be switched to the Dripping Pan, for reasons I don't understand).

These are not play-offs in the sense that we know them. It's more of a straightforward knock-out competition. If the Rooks win on Saturday, they are through to the Conference South.

Having seen off the side that finished 14th in the league, it should be easier now to be playing the team that finished 19th.

The full play-off programme:-

Game 1 - 3rd May
Champions of 1st Division North (Yeading) v Champions of 1st Division South (Lewes).

Game 2 - 5th May
Ryman Premier League Position 14 (Basingstoke Town) v Winner Game 1 (Lewes)

Game 3 - 5th May
Position 15 (Bedford Town) v Position 20 (Hitchin Town)

Game 4 - 5th May
Position 16 (Heybridge Swifts) v Position 19 (Kingstonian)

Game 5 - 5th May
Position 17 (Harrow Borough) v Position 18 (St Albans City)

Game 6 - 8th May
Winner Game 2 (Lewes) v Winner Game 4 (Kingstonian)

Game 7 - 8th May
Winner Game 3 v Winner Game 5

The winners of Games 6 and 7 qualify for inclusion in the Conference South. Home club in matches 6 & 7 will be the team with the higher league position.

The game against Kingstonian is meant to take place at Kingsmeadow on Saturday but AFC Wimbledon are playing an AWAY game against AFC Wallingford at Kingsmeadow at 3pm on Saturday (dont ask me why) so no-one actually knows when and where the game is taking place!

I'm afraid so. Even more reason for the Rooks to give them a good stuffing in their "Eyrie":ascarf:

Go on the Rooks! Great to see them winning. and would be marvellous to have them knocking on the doors to the football league. Mind you I couldn't see the dripping pan hosting League football, so somebody shoyuld suggest to Mr Prescott this, grounshare at Falmer anyone?

The play-off system is designed to favour teams that finished higher in the league, by giving them home advantage. Since most of the teams were playing in the Ryman Premier, they were all deemed to have finished higher than a team that merely won the First Division (South). The first game was at Yeading, champions of the First Division (North), who finished the season with more points than Lewes (and were therefore awarded home advantage.

Yeah, it's bloody unfair, but none of this seems to be bothering the Rooks. In fact, as the tournament goes on, the games should get easier - having seen off Basingstoke, they inevitably get to play a team that finished below Basingstoke - albeit another away game.

Why the hell did they switch the teams round so Lewes will play Bedford? I was going to go up to Kingston on Saturday so the FA have buggered up my weekend. The whole re-organisation thing has been a farce. Only this week they changed their minds about having teams relegated from Level 7. First they said no-one would be relegated from Lewes's level this season and now they've changed their minds again. At this level of football all this f***ing about could screw up some clubs.
The way I see it, the FA must be praying that Redditch win their play-off game so they can put them in Conference North and switch Kettering to Conference North thus giving them 22 in each 2nd Conference. If Redditch don't go up then they're going to have to have 20 teams in Conference North and 24 in Conference South and next season will be spent f***ing around AGAIN.
