Generally "&" should only be used in the names of businesses. I think it's a great shame that they used it on the new Albion badge. It should never be used to replace "and" in a sentence.:nono:

And things the naturally lend themselves together, like Fish & Chips, Mourcambe & Wise, Salt & Pepper?

Shouldn't the thread title be And or Ampersand?

I normally use "and", but sometimes to avoid confusion I use both in one sentence. Like "Tonight I might have fish & chips and a kebab", instead of "...fish and chips and kebab".

You'd be better off saying "Tonight I might have fish and chips followed by a kebab"

That presumes he's decided which order to have them in, which we don't know. A kebab makes an equally meatilicious starter or dessert. If you wanted to write that sentence without an ampersand, all you need is a well placed comma:

Tonight I might have fish and chips, and a kebab.

See?

The Harvard referencing style specifies that an ampersand should be used in text citations (e.g. Poyet & Tarricco, 2012) and in lists of references.
