What was your best concert for atmosphere, sound and general enjoyment.

Mine was an evening at the Dome in late 70's - Emmylou harris and the Hot band

The concert was sublime and the whole place went absulutely wild

the only down side was that the cheering and shouting at the end was so loud that she didnt tried to do an encore but the crowd would not settle down.

Didnt detract from a truly memorable evening

Queen at the Brighton Centre. Early 80s i think!!

Opened with Jailhouse Rock. Started the second set with FM being carried onto the stage on the shoulders of a guy dressed up as Superman.

Great great evening.

Best I've been to for atmosphere was a Manic street Preachers gig at the old london Town and Country club around the time they released motorcycle emptyness, the place was packed to the rafters and it was just an awesome lively gig, plus I was in the mosh pit squashed up against a stunning goth chick for most of the gig too which is always nice.

Happy Mondays, The Event about 1989 or 90. They only played a 45 minute set, Shaun Ryder forgot the words and had to sit down for most of it, but it rocked.

Totally brilliant.

the first gig i ever went to was incredible for atmosphere and we were thrown in at the deep end completely! it was morrissey at the brighton centre in 2004, it was nuts.

but the best for atmosphere and general enjoyment had to be Faithless at this year's v-festival, I went there to maintain a good spot that I gained by watching paul weller that i wanted to keep for morrissey later (after faithless) but honestly, it was mindblowing, faithless were amazing and the crowd were all going mental, good times!

Rage Against The Machine @ Reading 1996 was quite special to be amongst 70,000 people MOSHING to Bullet In The Head is a sight I shall never forget !!!

and when NOFX turned up at a headworx surf festival that I was working at on Fistral Beach Newquay, and asked if they could do a set. they rocked it to the 20 or so audience for about an hour with plenty of beer and smoke breaks obviously !!

Four come to mind:
The Clash at Sussex Uni in May 1977 (supported by the Buzzcocks, Slits and Subway Sect). Stomping gig on a steaming hot night and blagged our way into the post-gig party afterwards.

Can at Croydon Greyhound in March (?) 1977. Saw this band lots but this was the best I ever saw them, (musically) the best gig I've ever seen.

Khaled in an open-air arena in Sfax, Tunisia in May 1991. I seemed to be the only white guy in the midst of 1500 Tunisians going mental. It was a lovely warm night, the music was excellent and I generally felt at one with the world.

Kraftwerk, Brixton Academy in March 2004. Perfect mixture of sound and vision - a great night.

(One other gig that comes to mind is an Estonian band I saw at the White Horse, Brixton at the end of the 80s but for the life of me, I can't remember their name. Great night though)

I'd say Underworld's set at the Essential Music Festival at Stanmer Park. Probably 1997 or thereabouts. Wasn't expecting them to be quite so damn GORGEOUS

Pink Floyd Marlowe Theatre Canterbury 1969. Will never be bettered for me as it was the 1st concert I ever went to and it was just after the release of Saucerful of Secrets and the replacement of Syd by Dave Gilmour. Smallish venue and fantastic atmosphere coupled with music that has stood the test of time as well
