Living in the real world.
My cousin got a job at falmer a few months ago, and told me last night that the workers are not confident of it being finished on time.

Not sure if he is having me on but a little worried now! Oh and he is a brighton fan!

In the field
I went on a tour on Friday and they said it will be finished in 7 months time, in time for the ramp-up events. There was a hell of a lot of work going on on Friday.

Is this the classic "If we finish this job on time, we'll all be out of work" syndrome?

If they were that concerned it would't be ready on time there would be people working today. I imagine the penalties for not having this ready on time are huge.

It's right on schedule. The only things running behind are some of the pathways that have been held up by red tape. I think the stadium completion date is 27th May.

i'm sure he's winding you up. The Buckingham Group have a pretty good reputation and i doubt they'd wish to tarnish it by ballsing up a project of this high profile

I was lucky enough to have a personal tour week before last with one of the directors as part of a charity auction prize.
He informed me that they had caught up with schedule that week following delays caused by bad weather earlier in the year.
He also advised they are currently under budget. As he's overseeing the whole project, suppose he should know

Of course it's the 27th of May. The next day is my birthday, time to retire, I will be 65. :amex:

There's plenty oif leeway, remember the 1st completion date was in mid season (this year) but our moving in was delayed to the start of the following year.

All being well and good weather will see the outside finished soon and the interior work should not be so effected by the weather.

Hopefully not too bad for the pitch though.

A severe winter might put the schedule out but that has probably already been taken into consideration.

The major build will have been done and dusted by the time this winter sets in - if it was ever going to be a potential factor, it would've been last winter when they were doing infrastructure, concreting, digging foundations etc. By the time winter hits THIS time, the majority of the work that needs completing on the stadium will be internal.

(apart from the green thing in the middle of course :) )

before this project started i would think the roof would have been the biggest risk factor which could have delayed the project. Cant see that there are many future activities which couldnt be pulled back if delayed and most the work will be inside going forward ( so weather not likely to make impact)

This is a high profile job and Buckingham will want to make it work - i think they have already secured other staduim work on the back of it.

Im sure even the wembley contractors doing our pitch ( seed not turf) will get it right

I was thinking along the lines of heavy snowfall making it difficult for workers to actually get to the site. The pitch needs time to bed in , we dont want any Wembley problems.

Loads of them are living ON the site - note the static caravans in (what will be) the coach park area.
They've even got Sky satellite dishes.

It was in the Argus about two weeks ago that it was running late - 2 days late.

Pretty good really given the snow last winter.
