It would be one smallish area so I would mostly enjoy the complete binfest created over who gets a ticket in there.

And the fact that the club would still manage to sell tickets to a family in the back row of it for a game against Palace.

The concourses are safe standing areas. A nice new stadium and people want to rip the seats out? It's a bit like buying a top of the range Bentley and cutting a hole in the dashboard to fit an eight track.

This has just been mentioned on the radio. They pointed out that it is legal to stand at football until you get to the Championship. They made the good point that standing doesn't change just because of the division you play in. Sounds like terraces with flip down seats that prevents forward surges will be the compromise. If so, then East stand lower please. That would be excellent, and even I might put in an appearance to stand on the East terrace down the Albion!

Is correct. The Ground Regulations are a contract between the club and the fan and are thus a civil matter. A fan can be ejected (banned, even) for breach of contract if the club so choose, but can't be arrested simply for standing. A fan could be arrested for an ancillary offence though; for example: assault on a steward who told them to sit, even potentially a breach of the peace if their standing sufficiently upset a fan who wanted to sit and still see the action and kicked up a fuss, etc. etc.

Can you refuse to enter the contract with the club? Yep, by not going into the stadium. Otherwise, no. You going into the stadium is taken as agreement to the T&Cs.

I think the ground would be much better if the East stand lower was a terrace. The Albion was never the same after the old east Terrace was closed. To get an East terrace with a roof would be a great asset to the players and the club.

Totally agree and have the kids in esu out of the way but able to soak up a proper atmosphere . I as a kid loved the south stand at thee goldstone. Me and old man in seats at the back and a load of herberts standing on the terrace in front. Then ogressed to the north then east terrace north in the bottom corner next to away fans.....great days!!!

They should start with the back rows of the North stand. Simply ask STHs if they want to be in the standing section, or sitting section - count the number that say standing, and make enough of the back rows standing, to fit those people in. Everyone in front of those rows must sit (as that's what they chose). Those in the standing section may have to pay a few pounds a year extra, to pay for the cost of the work.

I thought the same but hearing the radio this morning, it seems nailed on. The clubs want it for the revenue. The fans want it and well it makes no sense that the lower leagues have terraces but top two divisions dont. They are going to us flip down seats that allow people to stand and stop surges by the sound of it. I might yet get to moan on the East terrace again. I hope so.

After having lots of conversations with obergruppenfuhrer perry about this, he was of the opinion that it would be. A backward step and we were innovators not followers.

You can't really see them ripping out a load of seats and lashing out on these flip seats with barriers!

I can see them doing it for two reasons I think it will happen 1. Revenue and 2. The punters want it. To deny the punter what he wants is daft. the club listened on the beer thing and well, I think they are glad they did. Listening and responding to the punter is what its all about in all industries. Football no different.

If safe standing goes in somewhere else I rekon this is what we'd have to do to get the club to agree.

Very much this. There is clearly more demand for it than just the north stand and many of us would be in the north if it was a terrace rather than the pale imitation of the north that we knew and loved.

Been threads before just going over old ground, while some people may want to stand in a standing area it wont happen at the Amex.
