Continuing their series of postal covers to mark notable events and anniversaries, Brighton & Hove Albion Collectors’ and Historians’ Society is issuing a" “First Day Cover” to commemorate the official opening of the American Express Community Stadium on Saturday, 30th July 2011.

The cover features a DL sized envelope (220mm x 110mm) with an attractive, watercolour-style picture of the stadium from above, together with some of the essential statistics of Albion’s new home. The cover has a first-class stamp which will be franked with the special mark “Amex Stadium Official Opening 30 July 2011”.

There is a double-sided card insert with a photo of the Amex lit up at night, plus the essential story of the battle for the stadium. The inserts are individually numbered in a limited issue of just 500 covers.

Each cover costs £2. Postage in a card envelope is £1 per order (ie £1 total postage whether you want one, two, three, etc, covers). All proceeds assist the aims of the Society.

To reserve a cover for postage, please PM me. I will then put one or more aside for you and give you details of how to pay.

Please note that the covers will be on sale at the unveiling of the Goldstone Heritage Board, 10am on 30 July in Hove Park, but I will not be able to sell them at the stadium later that day. I do hope they will be in the Club Shop though.

[Members of the Collectors’ and Historians’ Society please note that you will receive one cover free with the next Newsletter, to come out shortly (I hope!). If you require further copies, please do as outlined above.]
