I think away fans should be in east stand and not south!

In the modern era every minor detail is analised to get every advantage, training, diet, etc. Experts are in agreement that it is an advantage to have your fans behind the goal. Aston Villa for one moved away fans for this reason from behind the goal.

If it does give even one persent edge is it not worth doing. It could be worth one penalty a year for example. Brighton fans all jump up convinces ref it was pen, conversely u dont want away fans convincing ref. like i say not big edge but evedience was enough for villa as well as others.

Also evidence surgests that away teams favour playing towards own fans behind goal. so why give that advantage.

There is an argument financially as well. Away fans in south r capped at 2500. But if say u give 2500 one side of east stand and brighton are not doing well and would not sell the tickets, they could give more to away team easily. bringing more money into the club.

on top of this as many have said east stand will get the sun in your eyes.

Just a thought :amex:

That's all true, but having them secluded behind the goal means you've got 3 sides against them. There's a lot of psychology in that aswell.

I've thought that since I first saw the plans. You only have to look at what we class as a good away trip, Charlton and Peterborough spring to mind. Good away support, great results.

I expect us to be outsung a lot at Falmer because of this, and it has to have an effect on results.

Is it advantageous to the opposition for their fans to be in the West stand at Withdean?

If they wanted to give more space to the away fans they could always use a section of seats in the East, nearest the away fans and cover a few rows to act as a barrier between the different sets of fans

And in response to the sun getting in peoples eyes...

There's clear evidence that teams who wear red have an advantage over teams who wear blue; perhaps we should change our colours too.

Put them on the East and you then need segregation which would probably lose 300 seats. Its all about the money I guess

I totally and utterly agree.. I was VERY surprised when it was announced that the away fans would be behind the goal.

Also, surely the family section would be better in the South stand rather than the East!? - more interesting for the kids and it seemed to work well at the Goldstone that way.

Kids prefer the view from the sideline, SHIRLEY?
