Americans have a nasty habit of trying to 'improve' the English language which just makes them sound stupid. Also they don't like the word 'draw' as in their own sports they will go to overtime or extra innings to produce a winner.

However to try and change the terms used world wide in the planet's most popular sport is just ridiculous. (This a the country that has a game called 'Football' when only two players on the squad are supposed touch the ball with their foot).
