Am I the only person on this planet who hates Leona?

I quite like her new song :) although, it might get to the stage where I hate it when I hear it on the radio or tv to many times.

I used to like How to save a life by the Fray and now im starting to hate it because it is badly overplayed

I hadn't heard of her until she turned on the lights on Oxford Street last week.
She is probably quite talented but sounds a bit too much like Mariah Carey for my liking and incase you haven't guessed I'm not a fan of that warbling, mentally instable, large mouthed bitch.

Absolutely

Being number one (as Leona somehow is atm) does not mean you're any good. These days it invariably means you've got very good marketing people behind you. Just look at Crazy Frog, for crying out loud.

.

I hardly think that comparing her to Crazy Frog is fair.

Crazy Frog was a NAKED FROG.

On a MOTORBIKE!

Genius.

not really overly keen on people who insist in closing their eyes when singing...

I think that the people who slate her do so because it is fashionable amongst the small minded. To say that she has no talent is ridiculous. It may not be to everyones taste but to slag it off because you don't personally like it is a bit petty.

She has a great voice and a great future. Will i be buying her album? - no.

I'd like to see you do better!

I realise because shes come out of a talent show, it is popular to not like these people - I dont like x factor at all, but you cant deny that this girl has serious talent. She went to Sylvia Young - hardly somewhere to go when you aren't talented!!

She does have talent and I guess its not her fault that her song is played to death.

no - I slate her because her talent is unremarkable and she is manufactured. What does she bring to the music that 100 similar women on X Factor couldn't?

I get pissed off because there are really really talented singers, who sing with real passion and soul and can't get record contracts to highlight their much greater talent than this warbling canary. Have you ever heard of Hafdis Huld? Of Francois Breut?

The record industry doesn't want to take a chance on someone who has worked hard for their art, who they may have to take a chance on and instead go for an easy option for people who buy their music from Tescos.

I am certainly not small-minded when it comes to music and there are lots of light fluffy stuff out there that I adore. It's lazy, music by numbers with a pretty songstress that can be manipulated by leeching cnuts like Cowell and Walsh, who sing songs written on a never ending conveyor belt of blandness to fuckwits who can't be bothered to look past radio 1 and southern sound that get my goat.

So get out there and support LIVE ACTS. You might be surprised.

It's certainly not me who needs to broaden my horizons.

She is very middle of the road therefore I just don't really register her but anyone who can push themselves hard enough and succeed in a business like that has got some respect from me. Can't stand her music but she can sing and good luck to her, she has managed where most fail.

I think she has a great voice. Would be nice if she sang something interesting with it.

Agree with Danny Seagull that she looks like Henrik Larson.

Whilst I agree with a large proportion of you rant, it is simply not true that there are 100 similar woman on X Factor (or similar) that could do the same. There aren't, and they couldn't. Have you ever watched X Factor? The quality is very, very low. Leona can sing, she has talent. Unfortunately for her she does not have the individuality, confidence or strength of personality to push herself beyond Simon Cowell's realm of bland pop pap for the undemanding masses. She may be dull, she may be weak and she may be managed purely for the pursuit of profit but that is not really her fault. She is making the most of it and I can't blame her. Hopefully one day she will gain the confidence to break away from the money machine and start producing music she believes in.

for which singer, Rob? It's not Leona's voice that grates. It's how she came to have a song in the 1st place.

Fair enough - i misinterpreted your 'rant' as an attack against Leonas voice then i apologise. I however think that her talent is remarkable but personal opinions do differ.

raging against the corporate music machine is a completely different thing - and one that i support. I just don't think that we should slate one person because they have been fortunate enough to benefit from it.

okey dokey - Rob. It's just when I see another Cowell/Walsh product.....well, you know.

Tell you what. I'll try and listen to her album and then get back and apologise if I like it - and I promise to listen without prejudice.

no need to go that far Buzzer - even i said that i wasn't going to buy it! I think that she has a great voice but not great taste in how she chooses to apply it (or, as the case may be, is told to apply it)

her rendition of 'Summertime' on the x-factor last year was truly superb though - if you could hear that you may see why i think that she has real talent.
