if you knew anything about the club john joined, that would back up what you say,he knew before he went that it would be a tough job getting ahead of 2,yes 2 top goalies, and he has done enough to get another contract in a team going for the playy offs again. He is also still learning his trade and is only going to get better,i would class that with the fact, our goalie situation hasnt been that good, yes it was sad he was let go

He is still very young and may be seen as a future prospect rather than base any decision on his playing record at the moment. At the time that he left we couldnt afford to pay the wages of about 4 young keepers.

I think this is a kick in the teeth for a very good youngster who was never really given the chance to show what he is made of.

Shame really

a regular in the reserves having previously been a regular in the youth team.....that strikes me as a fair chance and he has been assessed as not good enough to make the next step.

Of course he could prove us wrong but to say he hasn't had a chance is way too strong.

Fairplay to him, I don't have anything against him. I just just don't think we've missed him.

Doubt we'll miss Brinkhurst either, but best of luck to him for the future.

He was out on loan.

Feel sorry for Pelling and Brinkhurst in the way they were told, Pelling told over the phone and Brinkhurst found out from another source.

Surprised that the lads didn't have a face to face chat like promised the other week after 10 years at the club !

you said this on another thread.

could I again ask whether you or your source know more than the club are saying as they state that Gus is seeing Pelling tomorrow? Also how/from whom did Brinkhurst find out if not from the club? You seem to be saying no-one spoke to him direct?

neither were told face to face, that is definite. seems more than a bit unprofessional for two lads that have been at the club for more than half their lives whether they are good enough or not

can't disagree with that
I am mortified that the club has seemingly acted in such a shoddy fashion as I thought those days were past

I'm not sure about that, Poyet and his team seem to do everything very professionally

Pelling was not told over the phone, had a meeting with GP this morinig, along with Kuipers. Cannot believe the club would deliver this type of news over the phone. As someone said earlier, GP and the club are a little more professional than that.....

Seems there's more to this story; Poyet said he was free to leave in February and told him he wasn't being retained then but he didn't want to accept that.

Was in the Argus

I saw this, Mummy Brinkhurst was having a moan about the manner in which he was told / not told about being released.

If this young man needs mummy to speak up for him off the pitch clarly he hasn't got the character on it.

What Sully who has done naff all at Millwall?. Not sure why people were so bothered he got let go.

Because it left us without a decent back-up to an aging and injury-prone Kuipers at a time when Sullivan was looking ready to compete for the job.

We scrambled around fairly unimpressively with the "back-up keeper" situation for a while, until Pete The Bread Van showed up. Even now though, we are waving goodbye to Kuipers and are again looking at teh Youth system for our back-up. I liked the look of Walker last Saturday, but Sullivan was a couple of years further down the development.

The Sullivan decision was made even more staggering by the fact that Richard Martin, who was very highly rated, was released. Presumably the staff decided Sullivan had the edge over Martin so let him go, but then to release Sullivan a year or so (?) down the line...what a joke!
