I’ve got bored with Wordle. It’s a more ingenious game in its design but it’s reached the stage now where so many words you come up with have been used before that it just got a bit tedious. Alphaguess is less clever, agreed but at least the potential answers are pretty much limitless. I’ll continue for a while.

Favourite game is probably NYT’s Spelling Bee. The £3 or so a month I pay for all the NYT games is good value if you’re a keen puzzler.

One question I keep toying with. What’s more indicative of being good at this game — a low number of guesses regardless of time taken, or a shorter time regardless of number of guesses? It’s difficult to have both low and short unless you fluke it.

I'm finding it frustrating to get fairly close in three or four tries and then fanny around higher or lower than the actual word for seemingly ages.

Must try harder :)
