Now DK has gone and Tony Bloom has taken over. Im right on that one.

The funding for Falmer is now secure and in place and the future in regards to having a new staduim looks to be secured and in place, so no worries on that front.

Ive read lots of threads on here saying...were the richest club in the south and this is where we take off and now we can do a reading and climb the ladder.

Im not saying we couldnt do that but........

Ive been looking at it overall though and as much as its amazing news in regards to the staduim, Bloom isnt going like a John Madeski and isnt going to pump 2-3 million quid in on the playing side,as if we have a comparable budget to last season it is not a big change,so not much will change in regards to how the club is run and as that hasnt been mentioned, all thats been mentioned is weve secured the funding, he isnt the billionaire chairman who is using us as his play thing to get us in the prem.

I think we all need to calm down, the ground is secure, so in theory the future should be good...but as for now..nothing is changing...I dont expect us to be able to do a peterborough and buy big money players, I would love to see Bloom chuck a million or 2 towards the playing side...just cant see it.

Bloom seems to have a plan, which I like. He's clearly not expecting us to go up this year but the fact that he wants us to be in the Championship when we kick off at Falmer makes me think he'll help the club progress at a sensible rate. A bit of cash to get us up near the play offs this year and then push from there. He's a clever guy by all accounts and I'm really quite excited by all this.

If Bloom wants to be in the championship within 2 years then he will have to spend money on players and not rely on freebies and loans.

No one really knows how much Tony Bloom is worth. All we know is he has pumped 90 million quid into the club. As a loan which is intrest free. This means there will be 'extra' money avliable from not paying interst ona loan to a bank.

Tony Bloom has stated three things.

1) That we must be in the Championship within two years.
2) The transfer budget is the same as last season. If i remember corectly, this budget was quite high. With reagards to wages anyway. Plus we have got rid of 14 odd players. Expect changes.
3) I think im right i saying that i read that for Tony Bloom to make any money, or at least to get his investment back, we need to, by 2023, get into the Premiership.

So in conclution, although i doubt beleive we will just spunk money down the toilet and spend millions and do a Fulham. I do believe that there will be more players willing to come to the club, with us having spent around half a million on players with a fair few on a free.

It's all very well having loads of money to spend on decent players but they've still got to want to play for you, and lets face it Withdean is not exactly a strong attraction ..

I don't think we can be naive about this guys...

We spent a fair bit last season, i would say probably verging on half a million which is a fair bit. My take on it is the following:

- moree money available to wages to attract the type of player we want
- if theres a really good player available, as he's done in the past, Bloom may well do all he can
- they're not exactly going to come out and say ' yeah our budget is doubled so we can afford most valuations' because already clubs will have put their prices up to us! I think, well hope, its spin, and that he's saying that so we can say to a club ' look you might think we're minted but its all oging to Falmer'... I think tehre are some things which are better not in the public knowledge.

1), He said our AIM, Not must
2), No-one has clarified the transfer budget all slade said was about the same as last year, which he might be saying to play down the fact we have a lot.

I would hope that any player that Brighton are trying to sign is going to be able to work out that the club will be playing in a state of the art stadium in two years time and that Withdean will be a thing of the past. If a player is put off by the Withdean factor as far as I am conserned they can go else where.

It would be foolish for him to say we had lots of money to spend, if it is the case, as clubs will just up their asking price for players

There will be more quality players released this summer than ever before so squad improvements can be achieved without spending out on big transfer fees (unless there is someone RS really wants). Attracting the right players may mean paying higher wages than we were prepared/able to do in the past but given the eventual size of the squad last year that can probably be achieved for around the same net cost.
Having a new regime, a brighter outlook, financial security, and Falmer on the horizon, will undoubtedly help to attract players who last year would have said no.

We don't need to splash the cash even if it were there to throw around (which I doubt)

I agree, but with most contracts being one or two years, who says they will walk out on the hallowed turf that is Falmer, especially if we are in the Championship at the time and looking for better players!!

players aren't bothered about the ground they play at, they are only concerned with how much you pay them.

Not a great example as it wasn't the stadium that put him off the move!?!

The geographic location probably plays a factor in the lower leagues, but a player would NEVER turn us down on the basis of having a cack stadium

I have not seen anywhere that says the Budget is the same as last year? I have seen Russ Slade say that IF the Budget was the same as last year he would be expecting to push for the playoffs, but it has still to be agreed when Tony Bloom gets back from a business trip to the west country?

They are also concerned about the team's chances of success. At this level we're talking about promotion but with Kaka it was Champs League. If we're trying to sign Championship level players they would need to be sold on our plans to get there asap (unless the money was too good to turn down).
