Yes, pół na pół (half and half). Plenty of Polish food available over here these days too, of course - you can get gołąbki in Sainsbury's ...

A stereotypical view

Is that Poles take the jobs off of you

But when they go to work

There's no task that they'll shirk

And their goalie is bloody good too.

I am going to Gdansk this month for a wedding. Anywhere in particular I should look out for?

The Old Town obviously but a trip out to Sopot this time of year would be nice. Theres also a great fish restaurant at the end of the canal... called TARG RYBNY. The fish soup is gorgeous!

I have been to Poland and while I was there visited Auschwitz. To say I enjoyed visiting the concentration camp would be wrong, but it is somewhere I would recommend everyone should go to. Walking into the gas chambers is one of the most eerie moments of my life. I was with my school, any many people found it too much and broke down while walking round and I can understand why.

Chocolate covered plums, fresh chrzan - I see you can appreciate
good Polish food. I remember trying to convince some of my Irish
friends to try flaki. They resisted at first, but became real flaki
connoisseurs later :)

You can also visit the PGE Arena stadium, it's one of the most modern
stadiums in the world, quite impressive.

Although Auschwitz-Birkenau was shockiing, for me Majdanek, near Lublin was much worse. AB is in a forest and it feels almost other-worldly. Majdanek is right by the city, you could see the ovens from the houses..... brings it home much harder.

I visited Auschwitz last year, and i agree with everything you said. I agree everyone should visit this, as it makes you look at life in a completely different way. Totally changed my outlook, and made me feel how lucky we are.

You cannot come close to imagining how much misery and pain was inflicted on the prisoners. It wasn't just a massive gas chamber, it was also a Prison and work house.

They started off shooting prisoners, putting them in suffocation cells, starvation cells etc, and then decided they needed a more efficient way of killing people.

Horrific!!

Whilst I agree that both barszcz and chłodnik are absolutely delicious, nothing
compares with żurek - The Ultimate Polish Soup. It is best served inside a loaf
of bread, a culinary orgasm!
