Looks a bit of a handful.
The Swansea manager is (ex Brighton reserve coach) Luke Williams?"Dear God! Do we have to choose between Graham Potter and Steve Cooper? We're missing out on everyone else!"
There's maybe a 5% chance of something that one of those two are coaching us next season...
See this as the anti-panic thread.
This is my (incomplete, because if I spend another hour on it I'd find a couple more) list of non-Cooper/Potter managers who I could imagine us appointing (in most cases to much excitement):
Unemployed
Gerhard Struber (last club RB Salzburg)
Mark van Bommel (Antwerp)
Gio van Bronckhorst (Rangers)
Stefano Pioli (Milan)
Pascal Jansen (AZ)
Javi Gracia (Leeds)
Quique Setién (Villarreal)
Bruno Genesio (Rennes)
Niko Kovac (Wolfsburg)
Will Still (Reims)
Scott Parker (Club Brugge)
Rafa Benitez (Celta Vigo)
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (Manchester United)
Laurent Blanc (Lyon)
Ruud van Nistelrooy (PSV)
Liam Rosenior (Hull)
Marcelo Gallardo (Saudi somewhere)
Michael Beale (Sunderland)
Philip Cocu (Vitesse)
Wouter Vrancken (Genk)
Employed
Thorsten Fink (St Truiden)
Luke O'Neil (Swansea)
Michael Carrick (Middlesbrough)
Carlos Corberan (West Bromwich)
Kjetil Knutsen (Bodö/Glimt)
Eric Roy (Brest)
Vincenzo Italiano (Fiorentina)
Hein Vanhaezebrouck (Gent)
Jindrich Tripsovsky (Slavia Prague)
Feel free to add to the list or tell me if someone snuck off and found himself a new job or something.
You really think Chelsea and Manu U, looking to appoint a new manager, sought out the Ipswich manager for a day of silly buggers, just to stop him going joining us?
And sometimes I wonder how anyone can be so mad as to think voting for Sunk and co this July would be a really good idea.
Not good enough for Brighton. Lost the dressing room (and the league) at Salzburg.Unemployed
Gerhard Struber (last club RB Salzburg)
Oh yeah, sorry - thats the name. Fixing it.The Swansea manager is (ex Brighton reserve coach) Luke Williams?
Tactically, think Dyche, Moyles, Hodgson etc.
Would not take any notice of Van Bronckhorst numbets only play one decent team a yearDid a quick check on Wikipedia (apologies for any inaccuracies) to see each unemployed candidate's win % at the club listed.
van Nistelrooy, van Bronckhorst and Pascal Jansen all looks to have something about them.

Graham Potter (Brighton) 31.1%
Gerhard Struber (last club RB Salzburg) 58.82%

Philip Cocu (Vitesse) 29.27%
Wouter Vrancken (Genk) ?
Indeed. Tbh expectation in the SPL should be winning every game apart from Celtic, where a win is not guaranteed.I don't think those numbers mean anything on their own.
Van Bronkhorst getting 62% at Ranger strikes me as somebody achieving the minimum that would be expected of them. Similarly Solskjaer's 54% at Man U.
They play direct football against better teams and dominant football against worse teams. They are top 5 in Ligue 1 both in terms of avg possession and long balls.Tactically, think Dyche, Moyles, Hodgson etc.
“Oftentimes, Brest will seek to go direct and attempt to win a second ball and push forward, lumping it forward to their strikers.”
Tactical Analysis: Eric Roy’s Brest - Breaking The Lines
When Eric Roy took charge of Stade Brestois 29 on January 3, 2023, the French club were battling relegation. Today, they are on track to qualify for European football for the first time in club history, sitting second in the Ligue 1 table, 10 points behind Paris Saint-Germain, one above Monaco...breakingthelines.com
Beale’s win % at Rangers is actually higher but their fans absolutely hated him.Indeed. Tbh expectation in the SPL should be winning every game apart from Celtic, where a win is not guaranteed.
So ~60% is low. I suppose if this takes European games in to consideration too, that would bring the average down.
Beale’s win % at Rangers is actually higher but their fans absolutely hated him.
He then lasted a whole 12 games at Sunderland, winning just 4 of them.
Yup. They also lost a number of zero importance games in the league when the title chance was gone while they at the same time made it to the Europa League final.Indeed. Tbh expectation in the SPL should be winning every game apart from Celtic, where a win is not guaranteed.
So ~60% is low. I suppose if this takes European games in to consideration too, that would bring the average down.
I stand corrected. They play direct football against better teams and dominant football against worse teams. They are top 5 in Ligue 1 both in terms of avg possession and long balls.
I stand corrected.
At 54%, Brest actually had 1% more possession than McKenna’s Ipswich last season.
If he can combine possession and then directness in a game (which RDZ rarely did) like McKenna, I guess I’m in.
Absolutely. I can only think there are a few names on that list that the OP put on as a hilarious “joke” to prove Brighton fans don’t know anything about football.Beale is a fraud tho.
The idea of you googling “Brest Characteristics” is tremendousI stand corrected.
At 54%, Brest actually had 1% more possession than McKenna’s Ipswich last season as an average over all games.
If he can combine possession and then directness in a game (which RDZ rarely did) like McKenna, I guess I’m in.
