New York mayor: "it was a hoax"

Bill De Blasio, mayor of New York, on the threats received against schools in the city:

"The immediate assessment by the intelligence division, again in consultation with the FBI, was that there was nothing credible about the threat. It was so generic, so outlandish and posed to numerous school districts simultaneously... the assumption of the NYPD and the assumption of the NYPD were exactly the same, that in fact it would be a huge disservice to our nation to close down our school system."

I'll lay you a bet that Islamic terror is something to do with it. 650,000 students affected. It won't b some minor issue.

Police commissioner: threat may have been made by "a Homeland fan"

Bill Bratton, New York's police commissioner, on the threats:

"In reviewing it- the instigator of the threat may be a Homeland fan, basically watching Homeland episodes. It mirrors recent episodes on Homeland."

He said one sign that it was a hoax was that the author of the threat spelled 'Allah' with a lowercase a.

Now it seems to be battle between the NYC School System and the LA Schools on why they made their different decisions on why one closed and one stayed open.

The criteria for staying open in NYC was that the threat misspelled Allah, referred to a pornographic body part that a fundamentalist muslim would not refer to, talked about a group totaling 32 people which is impossible in the US, and other signals.
