It wasn't after 7 games, it started well before that.

Our first game was a great win against Watford, then we were unlucky to only draw against West Ham. Andone messed up our game against Southampton, and then we were predictable stuffed away to City.

So that’s 4 games in, and spence posted this (re Albion mojo):

We then outplayed Burnley, but let in a last minute equaliser. That’s 5 games in, and spence posted this:

And those weren't isolated posts. Most of his posts were moaning about how shit we were and how we'd be getting relegated.
I didn't realise there had been quite that level of toy throwing from his pram. Jesus Christ, I take it all back. [emoji38]

I am actually rarely on here at weekends so I didnt read all that nonsense.

From what I'd personally seen, it was week in week out with almost any thread related to the match that had just passed being subject to the same aggressive and hostile Potter-out-ery, in addition to the "Potter out" thread which followed most matches.

I have absolutely no issue with those fearing the worst and expressing as much on here. I've been concerned about our prospects this season, particularly in front of goal, and I'm hoping that Spurs doesn't prove to be some sort of freak result.

However, both the volume and tone were just too much and when asked to tone it down a bit, he was just abusive in response.

Fair play to spence. He was nothing if not 100% committed to being a tool.

As Bozza says, it started to feel relentless.

Spence is far from the only person here to take a stand on an opinion, but personally I don't like reading too much negativity about the club I love. You might as well start slagging off my wife. I don't want to bloody hear it.

It's annoying when someone is criticising our club and I think they might have a point, as then I can't really say anything in return, I just have to try and ignore them. But if someone is regularly criticising our club and I don't think they have a point, I tend to be quite harsh in return. Spence may well be a decent chap - I'm sure lots of people here that we love to disagree with are - but anyone who I feel is unnecessarily criticising our club is fair game for some abuse :)

Are you seriously suggesting that Bernardo isn't currently injured, and we've been subjected to seeing Gaetan Bong coming off the bench because he's preferred?! :lolol:

I am suggesting I was not aware that Bernardo was unavailable through injury for more than the Villa Game, I have no idea if Potter would use Bernardo in the way he has used Bong. If he has been unavailable for more games than that, it is still possible he has been available more than Alirezza.
The main point is, Bernardo is generally accepted as a player we want, while Alirezza, perhaps due to the price tag, attracts criticism, when neither is finding a regular role in the side at this point, I think that stands, even if Bernardo is currently unavailable, he was not getting much action when he wasn't.

I cover my face whenever Bong comes on as a sub, just don't rate him at all.

He's the last remaining absolute shitter left in my humble opinion.

Bong is the luckiest man in the Premier League in so many ways. In this case, the injuries to both Bernardo and March left the door open for him. No chance at all that an 80% fit Bernardo isn't picked for the bench ahead of Bong. He might have plenty of value off the pitch, but he doesn't really have any at all on it any more and has been involved because there is nobody else.

Ali J's time in the team will come, I have lost none of my faith or blind belief in his ability. It's just a matter of time.

It would sort of be interesting to see if he retains his views and continued to defend them after the Spurs game though

We could have potentially dropped 6 points by the time he returns.

I thought Bong was very, very unlucky on Saturday

When the final whistle went immediately after his only noticeable contribution, a shanked cross straight to keeper from a very decent position, meant that he looked for all the world on Match of the Day that his crossing was not of Premier League standard.

Arguably, nothing he does is Premier League standard. The pathetic cross on saturday where he managed to fall over was completely in keeping with his standard during the Burnley and Newcastle games. I've nothing against him personally, he's just rubbish on the pitch and the quality of the team has massively overtaken him.

It's not really his fault to be fair, we signed him to replace the awful Joe Bennett after his loan ended, when we'd really struggled in the Championship the previous season. We needed better characters in the dressing room and better performances on the pitch. He was very good for us in the Championship, but he's a long way short of the Premier League and it's disappointing to see him in the squad - let alone on the pitch.

Lets not be negative about our chances

I'm not but it would allow Spence to steam back and carry on where he left off.

Despite the fact I've not had anything to do with him, on here, for quite a while if he did that I'd have to begrudgingly doff my cap to him.

Apart from the mistakes against Villa I thought Pocognoli was miles better than Bong and I was surprised that we let him go.

We didn't let him go, he went back to West Brom whom he was contracted to. He was then released by West Brom that June and went back home to Belgium to play for Standard Liege.

I seem to remember that he was disappointed that we didn't make an effort to keep him so it is sort of letting him go imo. Not that the specifics are that important.

Yeah I see what you mean, we could have gone in for him once he was released by West Brom, and on reflection Suttner hardly improved the options in that regard.

It will be tough for Gaetan to get much game time when Bernardo is fit and in form. The thing about Bongy is that to me he's an out and out defender. He likes the idea of going forward and under Potter a full back is expected to, but it's not his game. He's a bright bloke, a whole hearted player and as far as I can tell a positive influence in the dressing room.
