There were a few openly shouting abuse at the chap, which is bang out of order. But I don’t think laughter between themselves at his continuous loss of possession, when everyone else was running themselves into the ground, crosses the border into bad fan territory.

I think you might be right there mate. And if I had a little more spare time at work today, I'd probably dig up the highly sarcastic and patronising reply you gave to me about a week ago, when I suggested I wouldn't be surprised if Jurgen did go on loan before the end of the window. :)

Doesn't sound like me at all!!

I'm still struggling to understand the theory.

Give Jurg all the preseason minutes.
Start him in the first game.
Then 2 games later off load him with no way of lining up a 'new' replacement.

If anything Ali fits the 'get rid' profile, yet seemingly still here.

He started at Palace, we won that. Wolves and Newcastle, we won. Everton we lost. So 3 out of 4 league starts- not too shabby.
Not sure about the cups.

EDIT. That's nonsense.

He also started against Hudds and West Ham, we won.
Then...
Saints
Chelsea
Cardiff
Spurs
Man City
We lost all those.

He played quite a few times last year huh? More than I remembered.

50% in the league plus the FA Cup run.

There's no way anyone else in the squad could get close to that.

My guess is the club were always going to offload one of Ali J or Jurgen and the feeling was maybe it would be Ali J (which would in part explain his non inclusion in the squad). Perhaps this interest dried up and so we took an offer on the table for Jurgen instead?

Pure speculation but there has been rumblings of interest in both Ali J and Loco so perhaps a possible scenario that played out.

As guesswork goes that seems sound.

As others have said gotta wonder how a very successful recruitment policy can bring in 2 players neither manager can get a tune out of, esp when one's USP is getting players shite together.

He was utter gash. Most in the gazebo stand behind the goal seems to be just laughing at his hapless touch. And he was physically completely shot to bits in the last 15. None of this can have escaped the boss. He was off the pace mentally and physically, and his impact on the game extended to one wildly deflected shot, which he was so so slooowwww to get away (anyone else would have launched it without a slide block coming in).

I’m sorry to say that those there last night would have you in a very very small minority if you thought his performance was “good”. Last night he was crap, and that’s all I’ve seen since he joined. Get rid, and take the massive financial hit, because there simply cannot be another mug out there willing to pay an 8 figure sum for such an ordinary unfit player.

Well we stood and watched the same game, I thought the movement and possession was great especially between, Alzate, Murray, Bernardo and Ali J.

Hopefully he hasn't become too much of a marmite player for the fans to step back and see how he fits into this new system, especially after his first start for Potter.

The guy next to me was moaning about him, but that's all I heard, I thought Connolly was well supported.

It'll be down to finances and it looks like the Locadia deal must be better for the club ?

It 'seems' we have turned down the PSV approach for AliJ.

Got to agree with you here, it looks like Locadia is the one Potter feels he can shape and improve into his team. Would seem odd given his involvement thus far that he'd suddenly out but you keep a player you haven't even included in league squad yet, let alone get anywhere near the grass.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh signs on a 5-year deal for a club record fee

Fine. Let’s keep him then, and build our entire strategy around him!

And here is the crux of the matter really isn’t it? We won’t do that.
So what exactly do we do? We’ve given him a run of games, he’s struggled, we’ve given him a run out against lower opposition, he’s struggled. If you include our players out on loan you’d struggle to claim he was in the top twenty at the club in terms of either ability or potential. Does anyone really believe he’d come off the bench and make a real impact?
So his role is that of a squad member. Occasional appearance on the bench. The odd run out against weaker teams.
He won’t suddenly find form like that, and that role might as well be given to one of the kids not out on loan.

AJ and Locadia both need to be offloaded.

I would prob choose Locadia first as he already has history of moaning and whinging to the dutch press.

AJ for all his footballing faults does seem a good character

Having splashed out that kind of lucre for them, l can't see either going. Besides it's a long hard season, both will get used.

I thought Ali J was good, didn't his deflected shot lead to Connolly's first goal. I like the way he was going for placement over leathering it.

I would like to see him get run outs under Potter as so far it lets him roam more.

I agree I thought he was ok last night, often got behind their defence and seemed to enjoy running at players.....UNFORTUNATELY some people just want to dislike the guy whatever he does...
